********I orginally planned to enter this as a respone to a post in this section, but due to restrictions i could not enter it in, and since I am at a library computer i don't want this information to be lost because i feel it can help people in this forum, so i moved it here.*******

In my opinion, there are many budget decks that are still somewhat viable in today's format.  As for the aspect of an uncommon deck choice, you will have trouble finding a deck that is both viablo, cost effective, and uncommon.

In order of budget goodness and viability, here are my top three decks!'

1. MonoU Fish-  This deck is very strong in today's format for many reasons, because it is resistant to chalice, and has a little bit of everything ranging from control to card draw, plus there are many execellent SB options available for this deck.  The Gay/R version by PTW is great also, but if you want to be cost effective MonoU would be the way to go so you don't have to invest in volcanic islands or fetchlands.  If you go this route the expensive cards that you will probably have to pick up will be force of will.  Misdirections and Wastelands also are in the 4-5 dollar range but over a period it will be fairly easy to obtain these cards.  The general build of MonoU runs many great cards ranging from cloud of fairies, to manlands, manta riders, and so on.  You can adapt it to your own style with the inclusion of voidmage prodigy, rootwater theif, or spiketail hatchling.  Check around the draing for good build options.  Here are the cards that might be the most difficult to get
1. Force of Will
2. Maze of Ith (SB)
3. Wasteland
4. Misdirection (Depends on build)
5. Mishra's Factories

2. Suicide Black-  This is another budget deck, but it is vastly more expensive then fish because it require the major cards of:
1. Nantuko Shades
2. Phyrexian Negators
3. Sinkholes
4. Wasteland
5. Masticores (Build dependant)
6. Powder keg (build dependant)
7. Chalice (Build Dependant
Well the last three cards are dependant on which build you run, but it is understood that suicide is a budget deck, it is at least 3x the cost of fish.  The advantages of this deck are that it might become better due to the increase of the new keeper decks and because of new MD and SB opitions it might be on the rise to fight the new decks in the format, but once again it is probably the most expensive of the budget decks.

3. Goblins-  Goblins is a very good deck to play for many reasons.  It can produce very fast kills and can swarm your opponent and cause serious head trauma because of the quick amount of damage an opponent takes.  The downfall of this deck is that though it claims to be resiliant to chalice and other hate cards, it actually is a victim to pernicious deed, keg, and chalice.  It is still a deck to consider because it is pretty much cost efficient, and most of the key cards are common or still in print so it might be easier to get em.  Here is a list of the cards that might be costly,
1. Goblin Piledriver
2. Red Fetchlands
3. Chain Lightnings
4. Siege Gang Commanders (Depending on Build)
5. Wasteland (Depending on Build)
This deck also suffers from many advantages and disadvantages, but it is another cost effective solution.

As with these decks an all other decks, it is important to consider your playstyle, your metagame, and many other factors.  Also it is important to remember that your build does not have to be exactly like versions you see on TMD, and it is okay to substitute with other options and test.

I have played all three decks for about 2 months a piece and i can say that you would be happy with all the choices, but in my opinion i think that Fish would probably be the best build to choose because it is very resilant in todays metagame.

I don't know im actually answering your question or developing this into a giant rant about decks i like, but i hope anyone who reads this can form their own opinions and are helped out by the decks they chose.

Why are Sligh/AnkhSligh not on your list?

The top cards here are Cursed Scroll but they can be replaced by Isochron Secpter. It makes it hard to play arround a CoP:White, but it can be done with the correct SB cards.
If you do it like that there should be no cards over $3-5.

Sligh/Goblins lose too workshop varients- I think it goes:
Fish

Sui

Artifact Prison

Because they are all control- and control can handle the current T1 meta

Normal Sligh and Ankh sligh don't have the umph, for the lack of a better word to withstand most matches in the new meta, even with scepter revisions.  The only reason i say goblins might be somewhat viable is only because of the blatantly obvious speed they have, but even that is a longshot.\n\n

i really dont think sui has too much umph left in it either, both fish and sui are built to combat control. fish just does a better job at it.

ive been a sui player for years, but the time where sui was one of the better budget decks is over.

I have noticed the same thing. A few weeks ago I switched over to Fish from Suicide. Fish, for me, has peformed two times better than Suicide has. I have alot of confidence with this deck against anything. Even in its good matches, Suicide has this fucking annoying tendency to lose..... a lot. Maybe its just my bad luck or something. Anyways, I agree with Wu, Fish all the way! IMO the best budget deck currently availiable.
