So Randy Buehler wrote an article about the bannings, but didn't include anything about type 1.  At the end there is a voting box about whether or not he should do a follow up article about type 1.  Go and vote.  It takes 2 seconds, and enough people vote, it will get some exposure for the format on MTG.com.
