So I wake up to find snow, a lot of snow, but that won't hold us back, we have 4-wheel drive! So we get to The Wizards Duel and I almost shiat myself cuz half of team hadley was there. We walk up to the counter, pay our entry fee, and sit down to chill before the tourney starts. My friend notices that out proxies ahve to include everything. So we quickly remake them.
I was playing a standard Gobbo sligh build, I don't have the exact list though.
I'm sorry if I forget your name, as I lost my 'notes' and have a bad memory.
Round 1: Dragon(Dude that plays T2 but somehow was able to throw together dragon) Game 1: Dragon does what its supposed to. I make him play it out, just to make sure he knows how it works. Game 2: Multiple Tormod's Crypts at the right times. Game 3: Read Game 2
2-1,1-0
Round 2: U/R Fish(Echo Boy-Andrew Oliva) Game 1: Fish was being homosexual as usual, and just out raced me. Game 2: Read game 1.
2-3,1-1
Round 3: Ghetto mono-U Fish (Steve Rodrigues) Game 1: He beats me cuz, thats what fish does. Game 2: ReB and Blood Moon 4L Game 3: This one was interesting, it involved him Tormod's Crypting and Timetwistering in the same turn, wtf? I still won though, cuz Blood Moon owns conclave and mishra's factory.
3-4,2-1
Round 4: Hulk(Corey) Game 1: He makes a few play mistakes, involving tapping out all his black so he can't do a huge yawg will. And when he does play the yawg will with AK for a lot, he can't find Mr. Teeth(not a play mistake, but just bad luck). He gets a Mr. Teeth when I have him at 2 life, He pwns me. Game 2: I somehow manage to get off the sweet turn one lackey. Turn 2 swing with lackey, lay ganbanger, drop pile driver, and he is pwned. Game 3: One thing to note, I for some reason sided in crypt instead of blood moons for games 2 and 3. I promptly lose to Hulk brokeness.
4-6,2-2
Dragon(I think his name is Chris and I believe he is on TMD) I don't remember too much of this match, but I believe it ended in 3, with him winning.
So I came in 2-3 at my first power tourney. In my complimentary pack I cracked a COTV, so I payed $15 for a COTV, not bad, but not good either.
Props: John(the store owner) for a: having this. b: allowing proxies and c: making it be 9 PROXIES! iLL_DaWg for knowing what hitler bird is, and congradulating me on having a foil one. SummenSaugen, even though I didn't play against him, I heard about his totally pimp deck.
Slops: iLL_DaWg for trying to trade me a ground seal for against dragon when I'm building TnT(I need to be able to target my own graveyard, otherwise I'm playing with very high costed creatures). Snow, for being so much of it, you are the bane of my exsistence. The store for not having ANY Squee, Goblin Nabobs
I think I did ok for being at my first power tourney. I hope there will be more at this store soon. Until then,

I believe john said there were 22 people there. I had to leave before Top 8 so I don't know who won, but I heard it was iLL_DaWg. Well, back to shoveling that god damn snow.

The top eight was:
iLL_Dawg, Madness Samite Healer, Scepter Keeper Moobius, Dragon Grand Inquisitor, Super Hulk J_Orlove, TnT Corey, Hulk SummenSaugen, Ninja Mask Echo Boy, Ur-Wizard
iLL_Dawg and Samite Healer split in the finals, and then sold the sapphire back to the store
Actually, it was a great tourney, and especially sweet given it all went down in spite of this huge storm. The store owner was cool, as well as all my opponents. After the tourney we went to this restaurant and the lights went out right as we were paying our bill. We had to drive back through the town with no traffic lights or street lights, it was scary shit. It did kinda suck getting home at four in the morning, but thats what it takes when your name is team hadley and your job is kicking ass at local tourneys.
Btw, congrats to Lord for his first power tourney. The owner said he was going to try to make it a monthly thing, which should give you tons of future opportunity/experience. You didn't really say, but I'm assuming you played Gobbo-sligh; do you mind posting your list?\n\n

Quote (Lord_Drazinus @ Dec. 07 2003,11:02)I was playing a standard Gobbo sligh build, I don't have the exact list though. I can try to recreate it from memory, however. 4 wooded foothills 4 bloodstained mire 7 mountains 1 mox ruby 4 goblin piledrivers 3 siege-gang commanders 4 Goblin Vandal 4 Mogg Fanatic 4 Lightning Bolt 4 Chain Lightning 4 Goblin Grenade 4 barbarian ring 4 Goblin Cadets 4 Goblin Lackey 1 Wheel of Fortune 4 Reckless Charge I believe that was mostly it. I only got to use the vandals once and that was in the first round, I got to blow up a mana crypt . If John is holding these things monthly, and with 9 proxies, that'd be the rockzor. I'm used to playing in the sunday junior series for players 15 and younger, were my opponents endsteps usually include: "EOT I bolt the wellwisher" or "EOT I remove a counter from triskelion to deal 1 damage to the well wisher." Also, I think it was Moobius, my last round opponent, that pointed out that my sleaves are utter crap. I had my proxies in backwards, and apparently, you can see through it slightly. He was able to pick out all 8 of my proxies in like, a minute. I tested this out when I got home, having my brother find them, he found all of them. Guess I'm sticking with Japanease sleaves from now on, Ultra Pro suck.

this would certainly be cool to see monthly.. I'm very sure that more people would have come if it weren't for the snow.. including me.

yes craig, thats exactly the goblin list you borrowed from me, good recollection.
Meh, I top 8d with fish around some of the best players on TMD, makes me feel if i just get a little bit better I may become a top name and start winning these mox shindigs.
Until the next time
Andrew Oliva out -End of Transmission-
Edit: You bastard those were my sleeves. You can only see through them if the card art is facing the redness, Cuz if they're all facing the right way, they all see through exactly the same amount, you can only see the 5 colored mana symbols on the back of the cards show through. Ultra Pro 4L (well actually both of my stores dont buy jap sleeves, bastards)
