Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

If the cost was just one mana or one life, then it would be pretty good. As it stands, it just isn't as good as the shade.

If someone isn't willing/able to get shades then they should not be attempting to play Mono Black Aggro competetively.
Shades are not t2 legal, see 0 extended play, and are recent enough to be in heavy circulation. I see no reason for a substitute for a readily available card.

Contradictory to what people are saying, you can play Sui without shades! Not everybody has money and I can see why Shades might be hard to get. Budget Forever!!!
One card that would probably serve you better is Slith Bloodletter. Same cost and it regenerates! I love em in super budget sui. Good luck!

You can get them at less than 10 dollars trade value! .... I agree with The Fram that Shades are not something to Budget competitively.

So an auction for 4 Nantuko shades, ending in more than 4 days, is under $10.00. Big deal. One ending in 17 hours is nearly at $23.00. With shipping and handling, we'll say $24.00. I can justify spending $6.00 on a lot of things, but certainly not on a single Magic card.
As for your 'mow a lawn' comment, stuff it. I work full time at a good job, but that money's going to pay for tuition and for a car - things I'm going to need. I have little disposable income to devote to leisure activities and not all of it is for Magic. So yes, I am "too budget" for Nantuko Shades. Now, get the hell off my case.

If you want to play decks so beyond the terms of budget that you're casual than default, I'm totally cool with that and won't think better of myself than you because of that. But don't try to tell me you're being competitive, because you're not. That's why budgetizing is ineffective: there's no 'budget' format, especially for a world where Nantuko Shade is out of your reach, and restricting yourself access to the optimal cards isn't going to make you competitive.

As hard core e-bayer, let me give some advice to the budget player. Don't look at four of's. Many people in the market are netdecking and impatient. Four of's complete decks, so they are heavily competed for. Snipe one of's and wait four weeks instead, you can easliy get shades for 4-6 a piece if you are patient and buy them one at a time. This logic holds true even for many restricted cards(my research has shown me that 75% at least of the restricted list is available in the six dollar or under e-bay market), you know the obvious exceptions to that rule. Budget play is fine, about all I do, but there's no need to make it more limiting that it already is. The key is timing and patience. good luck defector

Are there 64 or more cards that are Restricted in T1? If you want cheap Shades, just find a T2 player who played MBC and doesn't need his/hers. Or just buy them. I mean, Sui needs Sinkholes, which are much more expensive than Shades, and even Negator is almost as much as Shade.

If you can't afford shades, then you probably can't afford sinkholes. Hell, Negator and wastelands aren't too cheap anymore either if you think about.
Honestly, if you're not willing/can't afford to get shades or sinks, then you might not be able to build a good version of this deck.

Well without adjusting for inflation or euro vs dollar, and adding yawg will to the over 6 dollar list that gives us 17/54 or 68.52% in the 6 and under. I'd do more math, but i'm at work. Regardless, that a lot of the list in the grasp of budget players. 6 is also low, I don't blink until 25 dollars myself , it's only one copy u need after all. I'll do some more math if I have time defector
