The prize for the tourny was first place Ancestral Recall, second place: store credit. etc... I decided to make a new deck for this tourny, i have mainly been playing Rector Trix, and i wanted to sort of suprise the competition a little bit this time, so i made a trade with a friend, got some MUD and made a Welder MUD deck.  Five proxies allowed.  They do the pairings and i see what i get.

Colb playing Ankh Sligh

Game 1: I win the dice roll, i play first.  I started off with a pretty slow hand, meanwhile getting burned down low, i top deck chalice, cast for 1, get burnt down to three life.  I then draw Mind slaver, having enough mana to cast and sac, i take his turn, draw Incinerate! (lucky), burn him for three, Smokestack eats away his permanents, Karn smashes face for the win.

Game 2: Very similar to the first game, platinum angel hits the board, colb can't find answers, i roll to a 1-0 start

(1-0)(2-0)

Bob playing U/R/W Landstill

Game 1: I win the roll, i start off with a ruby and a workshop, i play welder, pass the turn.  Bob drops a Lotus and a Island, pops lotus, and plays nev's disc.  (obviously this is a player error on his part, which would later cost him the game) my turn, i weld in lotus for nevs, chalice for 2 hits, leads to a triskelion and smokestack lock

Game 2: I draw a not so good hand, bob finds a couple Disks and sends me to my first match loss

Game 3: A great start, first turn chalice for two, followed by a couple good plays, metal worker, bloodmoon, chalice for 4, and i get a smokestack out, i put a second counter on smokestack, only to have it stifled TWO TURNS IN A ROW, smokestack ends up hurting me, having to sac my chalice for 4, nev's comes out, i run out of gas.

(1-1)(3-2)

Chris playing B/G/W Aggro Beats?(Still trying to find a purpose to it)

Game 1: I win the dice roll.   I get an early metalworker, I then play chalice for three (Huge mistake, his deck runs hardly any three drops) I play smokestack, killing my chalice, he plays mystic enforcer, i top deck triskellion and ping off the enforcer before he gets threshhold, i beat him down for about 9 turns with trisk and the game.

Game 2: Chris goes first, he plays a land, passes the turn, i find a first turn trinisphere and then lock the game down in a few turns with a classic tangle wire/smokestack MUD play.

(2-1)(5-2)

Fran playing Suicide Black

Game 1: I win the roll, i draw a slow hand, however i do get out a welder, he plays a first turn negator, beats me down to about 10, Plays two Hippies, I find an answer casting Karn and Tanglewire, he is stalled for a bit, i catch him tapped out and attack for 19.

Game 2: He goes first, dropping a first turn hippie, my hand was questionable but i kept it, i play a land, and a ruby, casting welder.  He beats me down a few turns with hippie, randomly grabbing platinum angel and triskellion, i weld em in, and go on to win easily.

(3-1)(7-2)

Top 4: The pressure is on

I get in at the Third Seed and play the second seed.

Hale Playing Vengeur Mask

Game 1:  I win the the roll (yes yet again).  I play first, i get two early workshops, cast triskellion, meanwhile he drops a second turn mask, and a third turn dreadnought face down, My turn I then cast mindslaver, he makes a huge error, doesn't flip up the dreadnought, Has another one in his hand, i ping face down, play other, put him in lock, and beat him down with angel.

Game 2: He starts off playing birds first, I have a really explosive hand, casting Ruby/Welder/Workshop/Trinisphere, next turn i play a metal worker, then i get another nasty mindslaver, casting a face up dreadnought again (oops) tangle wire/winter orb lock, trisk smashes face.

(4-1)(9-2)

Finals: I split with Bob, as he went undefeated with his landstill. yay!

The build that i ran (I own no actual power) =(

Land:
3 Mishra's Workshop (proxies)
3 Ancient Tombs
3 Wasteland
1 Strip mine
9 Mountains
1 Tolerian academy

Artifacts:
4 Metalworker
4 Tanglewire
3 Trinisphere
3 Smokestack
3 Grafted Skullcaps
3 Chalice of the Void
2 Karn, Silver Golem
2 Winter Orb
1 Mind Slaver
1 Platinum Angel
1 Triskellion
1 Sol Ring
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mana Vault
1 Grim Monolith
1 Mox Ruby (proxy)
1 Black Lotus (proxy)
1 Lotus Petal
1 Memory Jar

Non Artifact Spells:
4 goblin welder
1 Wheel of Fortune

SideBoard:
3 Red Elemental Blast
3 Defense Grid
2 Tormod's Crypt
2 Blood Moon
1 SloBad, Goblin Tinkerer
1 Powder Keg

I'm still testing, i really wanna test out eater of days, sometimes he works so great, and if they don't have an answer then it's hard to lose with him, also it's obviously great with tanglewire and/or Smokestack, any suggestions?

                   Thanks alot, Jim

RIP Mogg Fanatic...at least you are still better than Fire Bowman!!!

I was once asked on MWS, what the highest I ever finished at a TMD Open was.  I replied, "I've never played in a Waterbury.  I was then called "A TOTAL NOOB!"

Why not just play it out and go for the power? The matchup seems pretty good.

Anyway, congrats.

The Bob he is referring to is me. He is my best friend so I felt it wouldn't be too bad to split.
