After playing Hulk for a couple month's, I realized that while it is a very good deck, it gets boring pretty fast. So I tried building a deck to abuse damping matrix. My first attempt was pretty bad.

Dryad Hate version. 1.0
Mana 23
4 tropical island
3 wasteland
1 strip mine
5 island
2 forest
4 polluted delta
4 SoLomoxen
kill 4
4 quirion dryad

Card draw/search 16
4 brainstorm
1 trade routes
4 accumulated knowledge
2 future sight
2 cunning wish
1 mystical tutor
1 ancestral recall
1 gush

Bombs 9
3 damping matrix
3 back to basics
1 time walk
1 fastbond
1 regrowth

No
4 force of will
4 mana drain

SB 15
3 stifle
1 capsize
2 tormod's crypt
1 berserk
1 fact or fiction
2 seedtime
1 naturalize
1 oxidize
3 control magic

After losing horribly to aggro in testing, I threw in red for firestorm and blasts against control. I got 2nd at Hadley with the red version, and then top 4 at some minor tournaments. My current version looks like this:

4 tropical island
3 volcanic island
1 LoA
1 mox sapphire
1 mox emerald
5 island
1 forest
4 polluted delta
1 sol ring
1 black lotus
1 strip mine

4 quirion dryad

3 damping matrix
4 force of will
4 mana drain
2 misdirection

4 brainstorm
4 accumulated knowledge
1 gush
1 mystical tutor
2 cunning wish
1 deep analysis
1 merchant scroll
1 ancestral recall
2 future sight

1 regrowth
1 time walk
1 fastbond

SB:
1 firestorm
1 berserk
2 red elemental blast
1 stifle
2 ground seal
1 capsize
1 naturalize
1 oxidize
1 fact or fiction
2 back to basics
2 blue elemental blast

I'll go over a few card choices:
2 future sight: A while ago, Nick T. played a version of Keeper that didn't run black at a Hadley tournament and got first, winning a mox. When people asked if he missed Yawgmoth's Will, he said that future sight #2 took it's place pretty well in decks that didn't use black. I tried it, and found it to be amazing. It lets the deck suddenly turn into combo much more often.

fastbond: Works well with the 2 future sight, also has obvious amazing synergy with gush (I've won turn 4 with that combination).

3 damping matrix: They're great against welders, Slaver, Dragon, Tog, and many other decks. It's well worth running them over tog.

firestorm: The Ak draw engine gives me lots of cards when I go off, but without tog theres not much to do with the extra's. This gives me something to do with them. It works extremely well at some tournaments, and then terribly at others. It's staying in for now.

Edit: mox, beta time walk, same thing Smile

I really like the list.  I'm also rather sad that you posted yours before i got to post my very similar build... it looks something like this:

I Win:4

4 Quirion Dryad

The Draw:12

1 Gush
1 Read the Runes
1 Fact or Fiction
1 Ancestral Recall
4 Accumulated Knowledge
4 Brainstorm

"I know what i Want":5

3 Cunning Wish
1 Merchant Scroll
1 Mystical Tutor

Bahroken:2

1 Regrowth
1 Time Walk

The Counters:12

4 Mana Drain
4 Force of Will
4 Daze(early aggro denial if nothing else)

Oops, you're fucked:4

2 Back to Basics
2 Nevinyrral's Disk

Mana:21

4 Flooded Strand
3 Wooded Foothills
4 Tropical Island
5 Island
2 Forest
1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Sapphire

Sideboard:15

1 Deep Analysis
2 Echoing Truth
1 Oxidize
1 Annul
1 Naturalize
1 Berserk
1 Last Word
2 Ground Seal
3 Null Rod
2 Tormod's Crypt

I did not find the issues you did while playing against aggro though.  Dropping down the early dryad made my opponents hesistant to attack me.  Though i may go your route a bit more and put in those fastbonds.

I like the Nevy's disk because i draw so many cards that having dryad #2 in hand after blowing up the board isn't hard with backup.     I don't particularly like damping matrix but i love my back to basics.. do you ever find that you have too many extras of them though?   I cut my back to basics count down to 2 because i found that out.   Great deck man,   Good luck, and i'll keep up on the thread.

I like the deck, I saw the Hadley results and Was like Hulk.NoToG.dec? Anyways onto your deck as a whole. I think Scroll should be cut, the only decks I could think of it being worthwhile is Gro-A-Tog, Keeper and Maybe Hulk. All of which are because of Cunning Wish and in Keeper The Scroll is stronger though. But it seems like your huge hitters(Deep Anal and FS) aren't fetched by the Scroll, so if anything, it's another FoW/Mid-D pitch. The Deep Anal also seems lonley as being a one of and not able to be discarded to Tog if it's too hard to cast, I think it could be cut to. for the two spots remaining, I think you could put in another C.Wish and maybe a Deed. This deck seems to have a big issue on it's counterspells. Daze could very well compete for the spot of Mana Drain in Gro-A-Tog but this deck is different, there's the Damping Matrix that you need out there fast. I'm not sure on this but both should be tested. Misdirection is a questionable spot to. I haven't been paying much attention to Hadley much but it seems Misdirection is only mediocre, if I'm wrong, so be it.

I'll put in a bid here for consideration of Annul. I ended up running some maindeck in Landstill (I know, not the same deck) and they are golden. I think they take the Misdirection slot of you already have your fill of Stifles. They are useful against every deck in the format, though sometimes it only eats a mox.

The potential to hit a Mindslaver or something huge for U is pretty nice, and it also quickly pumps dryads. Might be useful with/replacing Daze.

Cutting Scroll won't happen.  He's running AKs and Ancestral, and it pumps Dryad effectively twice.  Plus, just being able to go find Gush is fucking awesome.  Also, grabbing mystical to mystical for Yawgmoth's Will is a common play to seal the game, especially with a Dryad already in play.

One nitpick though, Sam.  Nick T won a beta time walk, not a mox.  Smile

Juju: pretty weird coincedence, right after posting this I took out merchant scroll and deep analysis. As for misdirection, those were mana leaks, then stifles, now misdirections. I was never really satisfied with either of those, so I'm testing misdirection. For the Aggro matchup, I'm going to test 2 forgotten ancients in the place of the cards I took out.

Sytupal: In B2B hulk when I ran 3 back to basics, I did find that to be too many. I considered Nevinyral's Disk, but it had very bad synergy with damping matrix and with this deck I'm often short on kill conditions (hence the adding of forgotten ancient).

Kowal: I don't run black for Yawgmoth's Will anymore. Merchant scroll can be very good, for all the points you mentioned; but it was the one slot I could see that was open (the second future sight and the fastbond are staying). I'll probably end up cutting one ancient for a merchant scroll anyway.

In my original build i ran BabyCakes and found it was often unnecessary and was in my hand more then i wanted.  If i got a dryad in play i had more spells that iwanted to play then the forgotten ancient i had just drawn.  It may just be me but it doesn't seem hard enough to draw the dryad to warrant the inclusion of babycakes.
