5th place in Genoa 14.03.2004 with Dragon

Hi All I'm Billy from Genova.
1st of all sorry for My bad English!
I Played the Fully powered Dragon in Genoa's tournament to the 5th place loosing 2:0 in quarterfinals to a GR zoo unpowered  but well metagamed and balanced vs Control and Combo ( Waste, Shamans, Pillars, Boas, 3 maindeck NATURALIZE ).

My decklist was 61 cards with one only Cunning Wish because i put the deck together two days before the tournament and had no time to cut down to 60.

I agree all of you for assuming that Scrivener - Cunning Wish is old tech but believe me it's awesome! (Yes SIRAL tech)

I went undefeated in the Swiss six rounds:

1. (lucky match-up I.M.O.) 2:0 UG unpowered Fish
2. ID with T8 UGbr Hulk (good old friend)
3. 2:0 RG Madness; 2:0 UB reanimator
4. 2:0 UW unpowered Fish
5. ID with BENGA's Keeper (the only Player undefeated in the tournament!!!)

Scrivener was so good! In the first match (2nd game)Ihardcasted the scriv to reuse Intuition, to find a Dragon, and Iwon the match milling my opponent with Ancestral (under Xantid attack)!

The BG Dragon  deck was unpowered but fast and very solid due to heavy maindeck disruption (Duress Wastes and Null Rod) and fast alternative mana Boost (ESG)!

@Gabethebabe (think it is a safe assumption that the RG beats plays 2 Cursed Scroll in stead of Scroll Rack) RG beats played 2 SCROLL RACK maindeck!  Maybe it looks strange but he told me the racks won him some matches and was searching for one more....

Hi all again! This is my first T1 tournament report.

14.03.2004 The Abyss League in Genova (Italy)
44 attendants for a perfect Mox Jet for the winner and a foil Intuition for the best Unspoilered deck.

A lot of people missed the tournament (no one from Milan)  but we had a lot of good players from Genoa, Turin, Savona, Imperia, and Massa. 50% players went unspoilered and 50% were fully powered.

The t8 consisted:
2 Worldgorger (the Unpowered GB one won the tournament)
1Keeper (Undefeated)
1 Miss America
1 GR Zoo
1 Sligh (Null Rod, Pillar....)
1 Hulk UGbr
1 $tack$ (the only Workshop Deck)

I played MAD Dragon for a few days  trying to combine the Madness speed, Wasteland disruption, and the dragon-hellkite alternative winning condition without good results; I decided to play a 61cards UBg Dragon with 2 maindeck Pernicious only on friday afternoon before the tournament.

Round 1 Luca Rosselli - GU Fish UNSPOILERED

First match i won the dice roll and start with Bazaar, Squee, Dragon, Delta, Xantid, Stifle, Force!
I Fetch, Bayou, Xantid go.
He plays island go I drew sea and go.
He plays tropical, Cloud, Standstill go.
I decide it's time for Bazaar, draw animate attack and win.

SB out: Mox Pearl and Time Walk
SB in: 2 Carpet of Flowers  

second match he Daze my 1st turn Xantid but he's mana screwed! I play the carpet which gives me, in the next turns, enought mana to cast Intuition on Bazaar, rianimate Xantid, hardcast the Scrivener, cast Intuition on Dragon and Squee and win the game with dual stifle and dual force backup milling my opponent recurring ancestral!

He's an old and good townfriend and so we decided to ID for Lunch.

Round 3 Walter Zara - RG Madness SPOILERED

I think he plays Vengeur Masquè so I keep a hand of Pernicious Deed, Island, Emerald, Sea, Dragon, Bazaar, Stifle.
He palys forest Bird (Yes it's Vengeur Masquè!). I start with my Island.
Walter turns on aggro mode with Mongrel and I turn on defense with Pernicious; Two attacks later I find Bazaar and win.

I sided 2 Verdant and 1 Pernicious for the Xantids.

My Opponent starts agggrrooo Mongrel, Anger, Walla and starts "Sabbonging" me (Poetical Italian License)
I find Time Walk and win before lethal damage! What a good Luck!

Round 4 Pierenrico Favale - UB Reanimator UNSPOILERED?

He starts with bazaar ( May be Swamp Vampiric for Bazaar Not sure...).
I keep a bad hand hopin in good luck and start with Sea and Stifle on his bazaar activation only to gain time.
My turn I get a Crop (Good player!) and play bayou go.
We both stall in a waiting for goods situation: PE had 3 lands ad a bazaar in play... me Bayou, Sea in play and a Crop, Animate and 2 lands in hand.
Pierenrico taps Bazaar, i play crop on Bayou for a Bazaar and turn side My own arabian land to get a hand of 2 Animate Dead.
Pier discards Verdant and Akroma and Duress on me... His smile Switched OFF seeing my dual animate spell!, then he says go.
Next turn I draw land, animate his Verdant and win!

SB in: 3 Cripte 1 Purge
SB out: 3 Xantide 1 Mox Pearl

Second game I start with Bazaar, Dragon, Laquatus, Loto, Force, Stifle, Fetch.
I Force his 1st turn Duress, drop my Bazaar hoping to find a mox, I play Lotus, discard Dragon Laquatus and keep in my hand Necromancy and Fetch. He taps Bazaar, discards, and reanimate on.........(Good 1st turn Play I Think)..........Laquatus! ooooH!
next turn I Fetch for Sea and Win! (PHEEW!)

Round 5 Bogdan - UW FISH UNSPOILERED
First match I won easily after a Xantid attack.

In the second game we both Mulligan I keep Fetch, Vampiric, Lotus, Ancestral, Stifle, 2 Squee? He starts with fetch. i play Fetch for sea, Vampiric, no counter, for Bazaar, Lotus Go. Bogdan Fetches; I sac Lotus for UUU Stifle his fetch to slow him down and play Ancestral drawing Bazaar, Squee, A.D.
During My turn I play Bazaar and draw for three turns Without seeing nothing interesting.
Bogdan rushes with 2 Meddling Mage, on Animate Dead in my hand, and on Dance of The Dead and Waste on my Bazaar.
But today I don't lack luck! I tap Bazaar in response and draw Necromancy and CROP and win the next turn.

I was so lucky in previous matches...... so my deck turns on sleep mode.
We both Mulligan and I start so badly.
Daniele double Mulligan and starts Sabbonging me with Kird Bolt Chain and 2 Mishra!!!
Fourth turn I'm at 3 and find Pernicious with 1 island untapped
He draws a signed BOLT!

Second  game is like first he starts with Tormod, Kird. Two turns later he shows me a hand of 3 NATURALIZE!
