As FCG has taken off, I have had to encounter it in my local metagame. But, when building decks, I always want to know how much time I have before I will be killed by a certain deck. So, I am curious, to all those who have extensively tested FCG, what is the average goldfish kill? Please don't label this as one of those FCG bragging threads, as I am genuinely curious. It may be important to know this when playing slow combo, or how long I have to drop a bomb that stops FCG. Thanks in advance.

I run it budget.  I know I can go off turn 1 but always end up drawing one bad card that prevents me from doing so.  I have gone off several times turn two and generally have one any given game by turn 4 at the very latest. (Barring bad draws, and when I do not in fact draw the combo [see bad draws])

In general expect to be dead by turn 3, it's a good rule of thumb even under heavy disruption or spheres.

It should Goldfish on turn three anywhere from 40-70% of the time. I'd go and Email Josh to be sure.

I would agree that FCG goes off 2nd / 3rd turn but only under decent conditions. Any really heavy disruption ( nether void, moat, solitary confinement, chalice for 2, trinisphere, etc.) will really slow the deck down though (assuming opposing player can get down the disruption on turn 1/2!!!)

It normally goes off around turn 3 when it has all it's combo pieces, but the deck really has suprised me at times with turn 2 wins. I'd say it's a 50% clip for comboing out turn 2/3 with good mulls, and if you have the proper power in the deck.

I've even managed to draw the grand exalted turn 1 win once in a real game.  Very Happy

You can also beatdown and win on turn 3 with a good creature draw.

FCG wins as fast as I can drop a recruiter and then a food chain the next turn. Which usually means turn two or three kill if there is nothing preventing me (spheres... killing my recruiter)

The only restriction is the speed in which you can drop the FC, the recruiter can be FC'd out and so can everything else.

I usually average it third turn. Second happens sometimes, but third is what I usually pull-off.

Of course, I'm prone to the second turn combo of Lackey + Siege-Gang Razz

Huh?  Explain how you go off turn 1 with a budget version.

Josh got his turn 1 win against me, and it looked like Black Lotus, Food Chain, Mountain, Mana Crypt, Goblin Recruiter, Goblin Ringleader.  I don't see how you could do something like that on a budget.

My guess would be ESG, Crypt, Mountain, Food Chain, ringleader, recruiter, 2x 1cc goblins.

I don't think it's possible with just 7 cards, though--you have to go second.
