WIN A MOX!!
A Magic tournament will be held with a Mox as first prize

Date:  Saturday, April 17th, 2004 at 3:00pm

Place:  Games Unlimited, 499 Hammond St., Bangor, ME

Format:  Type 1 with UNLIMITED PROXIES.  Standard Banned/Restricted rules still apply but you may use any number of proxied (fake) cards.  Please make sure your proxies are legible and clearly marked.  The number of rounds of Swiss will be determined by entrants, and if time permits we will cut to the top 4.

Prizes:  Prizes will depend on the number of entrants, but if at least 15 people show up, first prize will be an Unlimited Mox! There will be many more prizes, including:

1.  An Unlimited Mox as the Grand Prize (color depending on the number of entrants, up to a Sapphire)
2.  A second prize of as much as an English Mana Drain
3.  Random door prizes during every round (such as packs)
4.  A prize for the player with the best record and the fewest proxies in his or her deck (hopefully an Italian The Abyss!)
In the event that fewer than 15 people show up, the grand prize will be cash based on the number of entrants.

Cost: The entry fee will $25 or less depending on the turnout.  We will provide pizza at no additional cost.

To get to Games Unlimited, take I-95 to the Hammond St. Exit (formerly 46) and turn Right if you are coming from the South or Left if you are coming from the North.  As you go along Hammond St., Games Unlimited will be on your Left, in the same building as Radio City and Bangor House of Pizza.

It's ridiculous since you're 5 hours from me, but I just might be there.

Myself + 2 Others will be there

Just how many people would it take to drop the price to the normal 15? 25 seems a bit ridiculous... (cape cod is 15 with free pizza, just for reference)

Can't wait to see what kind of a meta unlimited proxies produces...

Could you post an address, so I don't have to call collect? I would like to try and get directions off mapquest.

@Crovax

The address is three lines down
:-p
But I'll certainly post it again for someone who is interested in coming!

@Zw4liki

I’m really sorry about the price, but that is really to cover our asses. We are just poor college students, and if we only get 15 people we might still lose money. Remember, we have to pay for the pizza, the location, and we are still giving up a mox and other prizes. Believe me when I say, we are not doing this to make money. We just want to hold some real type one events up here, and convince more people to play. If this goes well we will hold more tournaments, hopefully with lower starting prices, however for the first one we have to make sure we don’t lose too much money, or we wont be able to do this again.

As for exact numbers need to bring it to 15, I'm not sure. It depends on what people want to do for the other prizes. If 20 people show up and we offer a Mana Drain for second, we can’t bring it to 15. The cost depends on both the turnout and the prize payout.

@ Everyone
Thank you for your interest, I am really excited about doing this, and I will do everything I can to make sure it goes well.

If people are driving are really willing to drive a looong way to play and meet new people, I may (no promises) be able to host a few strangers for a cheap dinner and party the night before. Let me know if you are really interested, but the distance is impossible for one day, and Ill decided on a case-by-case basis (I obviously cant have 20 people sleeping over from 2 hours away).

I might make it... Although it will be tough.... I'm from the MA/NH border, and it's probably about 3 1/2 hour drive for me, and that's each way.

On an off note, you might want to consider having your next one a bit closer to NH, that way, it's a shorter (2-3 hour drive, which most people find acceptable.) If you were to get an hour closer, then more people, IMO, would show up.

I'd try to make it, but from NH - it's actually alot further than anything in CT, MA, and damn close to NY distance. Augusta/Portland is alot more doable if that's at all possible - though I understand the complications.

If this goes okay (as in we don’t lose our shirts and have to sell off all of our power to keep the collectors away!) we would certainly be open to looking into other locations for this summer. I live about 20 mins from the NH state line during the summer, so I should be able to secure a location a little closer to all you crazy southerners.

However, until summer, I am up in Bangor and need to find a place close to here so we can actually set-up and manage the event. Hence the local card shop, Games Unlimited.

I'm considering going. Since I live like 6.5 hours away. Who knows.
