Cursed Diamond
2
Artifact -- Treasure
Whenever a player gains control of Cursed Diamond, that player sacrifices a permanent other than Cursed Diamond.
2: Target player gains control of Cursed Diamond. Play this ability only when you could play a sorcery.
Whenever a land you control is tapped for mana, you lose one life.


I would like it to be a Cursed Something Else, but whatever the name, it has to be something that is treasure. I also gotta say, it was kind of tough coming up with a 'cursed' drawback that wasn't taken by WotC yet!

Why would you play this card? It is two life, everytime, and it bounces back and forth. What is the actual benefit of this card, other than dealing 2+ damage to each player, each turn?

And why would it be a treasure? What is the point with such a treasure - it should have some sort of ability that you would use then.

No, he isnt. But diamonds are treasure in my book. And it's cursed. That's why it harms you. Why would you play this? Take a look at Jinxed Idol and Jinxed Ring. Those exist, I can guarantee to you that they make good fun in casual games. And so will this diamond, I believe. It is a good card. And the person who first tosses it can just pay four mana, then cast and throw it. Gives him a headstart.

This is a beautiful hot potato.

Okay, fair enough, but that wasn't my point.

My point was that why make it a treasure? That is a weird kind of flavor to me.

I like this card.  It's a lot like Smokestack.  While it's true that it is a 'hot potato', the opponent will lose a permanent first.  Also, if your deck is built to deal with this card, you can do fun tricks like Stifle the sac effect when the opponent sends it back your way.

honestly, I think I like this card alot better (and it's alot more balanced) if you take off the second ability. Then it's just something fun to toss around, especially in multiplayer, and make people sacrifice permanents. I say lower the activation cost to 1 and lose the second ability.

But then you have no real incentive to give it away. This version is much cooler.

I have like fifteen treasure-related cards made up but I figured I'd get a solid base of tresure cards made first so we'd know what we're dealing with. If I posted something that said "gain control of target Treasure" you'd all be asking "well what good is that?"

Allright, Matt, thanks for the clearing up. I didn't know how I managed to forget all the Treasure cards you done.

Back to the actual topic, i'm beginning to enjoy it. It can shut down Tog a lot, and generally be a 'pain in the ass' lategame, especially against land heavy decks.

It might even be too god. Would it make it worthless to make it a 3?
