Hopefully Womp is able to make a more readable T8 page at the best site with .de extension ;) You never appreciate clean, slick decklists like at morefling.de until you run into the people doing it poorly. :< 60 people! Yay!

Well, I offered to do the coverage, but the TO wanted to do this one himself, after promising to do it today. So well, it's acceptable I guess. I'm sure Womp will have a more readable version online tomorrow, since he's the best.slave.evar.

Wow that looks alot like Columbus results sans the Nethervoid deck.
Tom ran Smemnarch in his SB - I wonder if he could comment on what he thought of it in Control Slavery. Carl ran Merchant Scroll over Fact. Koen ran only 3 Returns - I wonder if they could care to comment.

I know Tom didn't think of Memnarch as highly as I did, since it's essentially a dead card in a few matchups (like against Aggro). He rather had a 3rd Fire/Ice. He's a member on this site as GotRealLucky, so I suppose you can ask him yourself.

Steve I'm not sure if the Smemnarch is good in Control Slavery. Rudy (morefling) and Hero (pyromaniac) played it in their maindeck but it doesn't seem that good to me. I don't think it's broken enough without Gilded Lotus. I played it in my sideboard for use against other artifact based decks but I only sideboarded it in once. Hero and Rudy were happy with the maindeck Smemnarch so it might be better than I think. My decklist is off by 2 cards. I played a Stripmine and a Wheel of Fortune, and I only played 2 Fire Ice maindeck. The Wheel was awfull, I cast it twice and lost both games. The Nethervoid matchup was very annoying. I played against it second round and I got destroyed in both games. I was lucky to get a draw last round against the URfish deck. The deck ran very smoothly in the other matches.

Tom ran Smemnarch in his SB - I wonder if he could comment on what he thought of it in Control Slavery. Carl ran Merchant Scroll over Fact. Koen ran only 3 Returns - I wonder if they could care to comment. I found myself often discarding/shuffling back returns with other draw-sevens and therefore I opted for a little more insurance (H. Recall and Chain) over the 4th Returns. Also I play the second Tendrils over the Burning Wish since the uncounterable Tendrils had already won me some games I shouldn't have. And Burning Wishing for a solution is almost always to slow, in my opinion. My worst opponent sunday was the judge I got two gamelosses during the day. One was my own fault, I forgot to list one card in my sideboard, the other one was really silly. I was sitting opposite of rudy, preparing for our next round. And the judge was standing behind rudy, and when Rudy was finished and presented his deck to me the judge asked for his and for my deck, while I wasn't ready yet. I always check my sideboard before or while shuffling and I was still planning on dong that. Turns out I didn't desideboard 1 card yet, and yet I receive antoher game loss. I try to explain myself to the judge, but he turns all my arguments down with a big smile, ... and I thought we we're mainly playing for fun, well this pretty much spoils the fun for me. The good part was that after I lost game 2 and thus the match against Rudy we played another game for fun. And in that game I had total control with swarms and necro, but failed to go off after drawing x cards. So I guess I should have lost that match anyway Koen

Heh. True. And since the Third brothers and possible that Thalpe fellow are English, that means there are NO Belgians in the top 13 of a Belgian tourney other than good ol'Carl (and he counts as French, really )

The only reason I was actually running the Wish in real life is becuase I like Foil Burning Wish - but that isn't a good reason not to run the two Tendrils MD. You can randomly win games much better with the Tendrils main where you happen to have cast Ritual and have just enough spells to win on the spot. But you are right. However, I think an Underground Sea is better than 2nd Glimmervoid, and I run that - those are the only changes. Steve

@Smennen: Although I agree with you on the Tendrils over Wish MD, I don't see any reason why you would want to run Sea over Glimmervoid. I know I used to be scared of running Glimmervoid in long.dec before as well, but I don't see any reason why you would run the risk of not being able to produce the right color of mana, since the risk of you not having an artifact is very, very small. Much smaller than the risk of not having the right color.

It's a fair question but it has partially to do with the fact that I view Workshop based decks as the bigges threat to this deck. The deck needs an answer to Trinisphere and Chalice zero using ESG that it may have to accumulate over a few turns. Glimmervoid is the weaker link in that plan. It's a very close question, which is why I run one Sea and 1 Glimmervoid. I didn't mention it in my article: http://www.starcitygames.com/php/news/expandnews.php?Article=6919becuase I wanted to avoid that question. In essence, what has happened is I moved to 1 sea/1 g-void and nothing in my testing has refused the hypothesis that that configuration is superior, therefore i stuck with it notwithstanding the slim theoretical possibility that I might not be able to cast turn one Swarm or possibly worse: fastbond. Koen: You said you wanted Hurkyl's for more insurance so you only ran 3 Returns; I run Chain and Hurkyl's but cut either Lion's Eye Diamond (known control heavy metagame) or Crop Rotation for the 4th Returns. Just something to think about...

Just something to think about... The insurance was the reason I needed another spot, the reason that 1 Diminishing Returns had to go was mainly that I too often had to shuffle back one, or pitch one to FoW. After the tournament I think that 2 Hurkyl's Recall is the way to go, since enchantment hate is vary scarse (especially maindeck) and Hurkyl's Recall made my Tendrils lethal more than once. Crop Rotation didnt really please me sunday, but that might have been because I was topdecking Academy all the time. I find LED too good not to run maindeck, even if you know you're gonna see some control, it stays a free spell, which boost your academy and it goes nuts with Will (and Bargain). On Sea vs. Glimmervoid: Only once in all my games so far I have seen a Glimmervoid pass away eot. And swarm need to be cast first turn, since you wan to play a draw-seven second turn at last. So I would stick to glimmervoid unless you're in a very heavy workshop environment. I actually almost putted Tropical Isands in my sideboard for the workshop matchup. Koen

The only reason I was actually running the Wish in real life is becuase I like Foil Burning Wish - but that isn't a good reason not to run the two Tendrils MD. How very unlike you. I ran Returns (control configuration) last tourney, which turned out to be a bit of a mistake (the full control configuratyion anyway, since there hardly was any). During the entire tournament, I used Burning Wish ONCE to fetch something other than a Tendrils from my SB. Like Koen, I too ran 3 Returns main and 1 SB, and it was't even the Returns I wished for...at was a game-ending Balance. That's just too few times to justify the Wish. And there's also too few LED's in the deck to make drawing a Wish actually better than drawing a Tendrils.
