Here's what someone linked me to.

http://www.magicdeckvortex.com/VS_fifth_dawn.htm

The expansion symbol is looking pretty badass- looks so far like the set presents a lot of really cool cards for casual, but nothing much for t1 yet.

EDIT: Changed the link to a non-Farked site and deleted the like 5 posts saying that the old link didn't work -jpmeyer

This does confirm that these 29 cards actually exist.

Why was a card like Spark Elemental ever printed?

Now we finally have a better card than Sleight of Hand too.

And just to top it all off, we have Steelshaper's Gift which literally can read: "Search your deck for target Skullclamp and combo off with Kobolds."

It looks very interesting but I don't see any real Vintage standouts yet.

Otherwise, fun cards.  I like Bringer of the Blue Dawn, but that's because he says draw two cards.  Playable he's not but good golly gosh Timmy will love him.

1. Does this mean we can finally talk about Crucible of Worlds?

2. The Scrying blue draw spell is okay at best I think. It is like a Whispers with the possibility of being Dream Cache, and nobody plays either anyway. I think brainstorm is strictly better, but I might put this one in GAT over Sleight.

If only it were an instant. As it is, I think Sleight is better. Since both are sorceries you're playing them agressively- Sleight lets you do more choosing now where the 5D one's really only decent if you're going to Ancestral or Brainstorm after. It's kind of like how I always get left with the slops with Chamberlain's sister.

Ya, I think its time to start toying with Crucible of Worlds in Control. I've had a friend playtesting "Crucible Clinger" for awhile, its a pretty bad ass Keeper toy ... and I imagine decks will SB the christ out of the thing.

Plunge into Darkness looks pretty interesting compared to Spoils of the Vault.

The Sunburst cards look like shit, though.

Hey, you can see the green sun in the background of Arcbound Wanderer. I suppose the name '5th Dawn' made it obvious it was going to show up, but it's still neat. I'm excited to see how the green sun becomes apparent. I wonder if it's going to turn out that the five suns and the world of Mirrodin are actually six distinct worlds, each with a primary focus on one aspect of mana - with Mirrodin's primary focus being on artifacts. I also can't wait to get my hands on a playset of Furnace Whelp. It's not quite Dragon Whelp, but it's close enough to make me all nostalgic.

Holy crap plunge is awesome...For all those unpowered but bazaared dragon people, plunge is a controled spoils so you don't die as often. It may even be used in Draw7 being black and acting almost like a demonic (although it has MAD bad synergy with returns).

Its too bad serum is a sorcery or there would be something to get really excited about.  Already though, you can see some potential gain from it relative to brainstorm.  In any deck where you care about the number of cards in your grave (namely tog, but dragon and squee decks care as well) it gives you up to two cards in the yard of your choosing for free.

I like the concept of returning spells to your library after casting with the beacon concept.  It gives more shuffles for brainstorm.

Anyway, there is nothing in this set yet which makes me incredibly excited - but there is certainly more to come.

Blinkmoth infusion is SO stupid.  Is tel-jilad justice going to be the new replacement for oxidize? Or is the 1 mana artifact killer going to stay?

On another note, will beacon of immortality going to have a place in any decks (maybe keeper)? Doubling your life total is nothing to scoff at.

the green scry spell looks good, additionally i like the thought of letting white have some good search (steelshapers gift)... quite a nice addition esp with instant speed equipping.

im going to have to test out some WW soon

Ok, is there something I am missing completely? How the hell is that broken? 12UU?

How many artifacts do you have in most decks? 5-6? So something that costs 6UU to untap them? Unless you use them with Mycosynth Lattice, and even then? I mean, Early Harvest?

Even in Stax-ish variants, you won't have that many artifacts, and most work while tapped...

Maybe I am missing something.

27UU? I would love to see that...

I don't know about that. There seems to have been a natural progression through the course of the block. In Mirrodin, we had Affinity for Artifacts, which encouraged people to play decks with lots of colourless permanents, with not real emphasis on coloured spells or mana, at all. In Darksteel, we had Affinity for <Basic Land>, which rewarded decks for using a lot of one colour - not ruling out artifact decks, but certainly making it more worthwhile to use coloured spells as well. Now, in Fifth Dawn, there are spells that encourage people to use all colours of mana.

Coming Soon: Coalition Victory.dec.

We could all laugh a jovial laugh if not for the fact it will be done by someone.  I will preemptively name the deck "WinThePrize.dec."

I don't think there's another 12cc. There's 10, 11, and 16, but not 12.

Spark Elemental isn't going anywhere in Type One. [card]Chain Lightning[/card] and Lightning Bolt guarantee it, I think.

Spark Elemental isn't going anyway in Standard, either, for much the same reasons all the Odyssey "punisher" cards didn't.

new masticore seems pretty solid. Looks like the possessed portal could be pretty soild too, with welder.

Please try to include more thought in future posts. As a rule of thumb, avoid one-liners. -Dr. S

I fail to see how Blinkmoth Infusion is broken.  You untapped all your artifacts.  So?  If you have enough artifacts/mana to play this thing, haven't you already won?

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the art for Possessed Portal look straight out of Legends?  And Etched Oracle bears a striking resemblance to Jar-Jar Binks.  Hmmm...
