JP:
Do you feel like this is true for all archetypes? Is there a best design for every strategy, like fish, dragon, madness, storm, tog, workshop, etc.?

I'm talking mostly about decks that do very similar things rather than different card choices in decks, (so not like say whether 2c or 3c Dragon is better.)

THAt was a very good article, quite an interesting read. It's interesting to see how this could be applied to entire archetypes, and the slaver bit was quite interesting.

I tend to disagree. for example iso-keeper and normal keeper are very similar builds that neither one is better. they just have different strengths and weaknesses.

Deck superiority can account for the fall of stacker builds but how do you explain the absence of TNT and mask decks in the metagame, is it a case of workshop owning players running slaver builds because there fresh and new and the fact that there are so few masks available on the open market.

Or it could be that Null Rod, Oxidize, and Rack and Ruin are everywhere.

Then wouldnt all artifact decks be a bad call, so therefore the strenght of the decks is cyclical with other players preceptions of the intended metagame.

TNT is out of the metagame because It does not run 4 Brainstorm and 4 Force of Will.

TnT disappeared because it didn't want to deal with the Seething Song + Furnace Dragon SB plan that would just ruin it's shit.

Being a prison player, I found this entire article to be very enlightening, even if it wasn't talking about the prison archetype most of the time. Fine writing jpmeyer.
