Sideboard:
3 Waterfront Bouncer
3 Root Maze
2 Magus of the Unseen
2 Energy Flux
2 Maze of Ith
2 Blue Elemental Blast
1 Null Rod

That seems a little strange to me. In particular, I notice that the Root Mazes never came in--because they're not worth running in the board. 3x Bouncer also seems like a lot, especially because I don't see them helping important matchups.

With just the lone Oxidize, you really need more spot removal in the board. 2x Naturalize would have been strong.

And no props for me? Frown.

Good job with the 5-1-1, it's too bad your breaks weren't good enough.

Now go get a real ISP.

Sorry for all of the Drop of Honey problems.  I ended up trading for one the day before and decided to try it out in the sideboard without playing with it before. (except for once long ago, about when Fallen Empires came out). Too bad about your tie breakers, I'll do better next time. Smile

I ended up going 3-2-2. My second tie due to time was to that Lanstill/Oath deck. A 4-color Tog beat me, and so did a mono-black during the last round.  I totally rocked a meandeck slaver, a control slaver, and a 3-color Tog.  Nothing is of really note, except that I should have played for varied matchups before the tournament and not done so many mistakes during the day.

4 Wild Mongrel
4 Basking Rootwalla
4 Spiketail Hatchling
4 River Boa
2 Daze
4 Curiosity
4 Force of Will
1 Misdirection
2 Oxidize
2 Stifle
3 Null Rod
1 Time Walk
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Saphire
2 Faerie Conclave
4 Mishra's Factory
4 Wasteland
1 Stripmine
1 Library of Alexandria
3 Search lands
4 Tropical Island
1 Island
2 Forest

sb:
2 Drop of Honey
2 Sword of Fire and Ice
1 Maze of Ith
3 BEB
2 Oxidize
2 Root Maze
1 Black Vise
2 Stupefying Touch

The Root Mazes were a horrible idea for the board, I don't know about the Swords because I never saw them.

I really like your maze of iths and the firewalkers.  I had thought about bouncers, I'm still not really sure.  Jacob's list makes a lot more sense to me now.

Yeah, I haven't been finding the root mazes that useful. Combo recently seems to have sort of crawled into a corner and died. 3 Bouncers is a lot, but I always want to see one vs Aggro, and I want to have one vs Dragon. If I get doubles vs Aggro, thats fine, I can pitch one. Basically, I really really want to have one vs Fish/Sui/O-Stompy/Dragon/TnT, which makes up a large portion of the meta. Perhaps 2 would work, but there is never an instance where I regret drawing them. I should test with 2 though...

as for the root mazes, naturalize seems like a good replacement. I'll go -3 root maze +2 naturalize (or Oxidize, i hate chalice for 2) +1 something random depending on incorrect assumptions of what the ever-changing metagame will be like.

Oh man Arby's got you too.  Damn them.  Congrats on the high finish with the sweet deck.
