Ok, please excuse my poor writing skills but i just wanted to present my list for the tourney, i have a very bad memory so this isn't goint to be a report. This was my first type one tourney and i wasn't to sure what to expect. I have made several ptq top 8's in Block constructed and extended so I consider myself a pretty competant player. I figured being new to the format and not knowing how to play certain match-ups i would play a control deck so i took an old list for Hulk and changed it around a little. It looks like trash but it was good enough to win me a lotus.
1 lotus 4 blue sac lands 3 trops 2 volcanics 4 undergrounds 1 library 3 wasteland 1 stripmine 1 mox jet 1 mox emerald 1 mox sapphire 1 island 1 sol ring 3 psychatog(1 proxied, what a beat stick) 4 mana drain 4 force of will 1 misdirection 1 ancestral recall 4 accumulated knowledge 1 gush 1 intuition 4 brainstorm 3 cunning wish 1 time walk 1 fire/ice 3 duress 1 mind twist 1 yawgmoth's will 1 demonic tutor 2 pernicious deed
sideboard 1 berzerk 1 fact or fiction 1 vampiric tutor 1 naturlize 1 fire/ice 1 oxidize 1 hurkyl's recall 1 smother 1 echoing truth 1 blue elem blast 2 red elem blast 2 coffin purge 1 stifle
Most of my matches were won by killing lands and blowing up hands.
Congrats to PTW, you deserved it.
thanks to Bob for helping me with the deck all weekend.

Congrats on the win man...just a few questions about the deck.
1) Were 4 strip effects really that useful? Most of the time when I'm playing tog, I try to hit 4 mana of my own, and just win. Although in certain matchups (dragon comes to mind), strips are gold.
2) Only 1 intuition? I've never tried this before, but I guess singletons are good in tog...I run 2 because in the mirror match, if you go intuition ---> 2 Deeps and a mystical, you usually win the game. thoughts?
3) You run red, but I see no rack and ruin or artifact mutation. I've been DYING the fit in a naturalize, but my board is soooo tight...did you feel naked without mutation or rack? For reference, here's the board I run:
4 REB 1 Fact 1 Oxidize 1 Mutation 1 R&R 1 Deed 1 Purge 1 BEB 1 Fire/Ice 1 Firestorm (OMG IT'S GOOD!!!!!) 1 Vamp. Tutor 1 Berserk
The reason I want to run naturalize is two-fold. People here still play with troublesome enchantments like Moat or Humility. And second, it's another answer for dragon.
4) This is more of a comment, but I love the fact that you run 2 MD deeds. I ran 2 till I met Meandeck, and cinnamon convinced me to run 1 deed and 1 shaman...I think I may switch back cause shaman hasn't been very impressive in my meta. Have you missed not having shaman?
5) Last, whats up with MisD? It seems a tad random.
Anyways, great job on the tourney!

The strip effects wrecked shop on me. Against the Hulk decks I played I just ran rampant on them since they had to have the counter or they had a one sided geddon on their head. In this match up he could nuke my lands, plus had counter magic

First, congratulations on the good showing. Others have already asked the questions I have, so I won't clutter up the thread with repeats. If you plan on playing this format more, I recommend picking up a Mana Crypt to replace that Sol Ring. It's soo much better. 3) You run red, but I see no rack and ruin or artifact mutation. If you really want to cram in Naturalize, cut a Red Blast. I only run 3 myself, and it doesn't bother me in the least. You already have a strong game against other control, so you shouldn't need more than three REB's.

I don't play any Hulk but.... why not run both Ring and Crypt?

Space issues, mostly.
4 REB seems an awful lot, considering that most control decks will be actively trying to Waste you - and you only have two "real" red sources. A timely Waste could easily cut you off from red, leaving you with tons of dead cards.

Strip effects were one of the only reasons i was able to beat the combo decks. First i would take out the important lands and then i would deed away the artifact mana. And to your other quetions, this was my first type one tourney i didn't really miss any cards. I came in to the tourney fearing slavery, because everyone told be how hard of a math-up it was. So my plan was to first disrupt it's fragile mana base than go after its hand with duress and twist, i remember once in the tourney playing yawg will just to get back a stripmine. That sounds stupid but he died with a welder in hand and no way to cast it.

I don't play any Hulk but.... why not run both Ring and Crypt? Sol Ring usually provides more mana than you need while costing you a mana that you might actually need when you cast it.

The 4 REBs in my SB are basically only for the Mirror match. There are some good tog players around here, and I just feel paranoid without my 4 REB's...but I guess your right, 3 REB is usually enough.

Awesome job on your first type 1 event dwarfinat0r!!
I think your decklist looks great! IMO mana crypt would have been an anus since you're not as combolicious as other tog based decks. Lack of off color moxen AND wastelands AND 2 p.deeds maindeck mean you are planning on taking longer to win and doing disgusto things like interracting with your opponent; the kind of stuff that makes a true hulk player cringe. The more time you take to win, the worse manacrypt is.
Now if only the rest of the top 8 would post their decklists...
