For those of us already registered, you should have gotten a message by now that the event schedules are. For those that are not registered already, here is the schedule (seeing as I got bored and tried to find it while not logged in and failed) Day Time Duration Cost Thursday 1pm 4 hours $6.00 Friday 11am 4 hours $6.00 Friday 10pm 7 hours $10.50 Saturday 10am 12 hours $10.50 Saturday 9pm 4 hours $6.00 Sunday 11am 4 hours $6.00
*Each event has 128 slots besides Sat. 10am (500slots). On a lighter note, if family and friends don't get off their buttoxes by mid june or so to figure out if they are coming or not, I will probably space in my hotel room. Skyway access is going to kick so much ass. -pete

The 4 hours they indicate in the listings is VERY misleading....try adding a few more hours to each......

The 4 hours they indicate in the listings is VERY misleading....try adding a few more hours to each...... They do that because the tournements are priced as a four-hour event. Each hour of near all events is supposed to cost $1.50, and they wanted the price on the tournies to be $6.

Here is some more complete info for you all regarding GenCon Indy 2004 Magic tournaments, from their site. This is a more complete breakdown of all of the Type 1 related Magic events, and is the info you really need to know:
TCG00377 Magic: The Gathering - Type 1 08-19-2004 1pm $6 - 128 people max TCG00378 Magic: The Gathering - Type 1 08-20-2004 11am $6 - 128 people max TCG00395 Magic: The Gathering - $250 Type 1 08-20-2004 10pm $10.50 - 128 people max TCG00379 Magic: The Gathering - Type 1 08-21-2004 9pm $6 - 128 people max TCG00391 Magic: The Gathering - Type 1 Championship 08-21-2004 10am $10.50 - 500 people max TCG00380 Magic: The Gathering - Type 1 08-22-2004 11am $4 - 128 people max
All of the events above are run by Mike Guptil, and based on last year's GenCon, if there are more than 128 people that want to play in one of the Type 1 tournaments, they'll open it up to more. Last years events were 24-48K each, and I've emailed him and will post the K value and REL of this year's events when I find out.
Some other Type 1-related (non-sanctioned, I'm guessing) events that are being run are as follows:
TCG00399 Magic: The Gathering - Creature Feature T1 08-20-2004 1pm $6 128 people max TCG00400 Magic: The Gathering - Creature Feature T1.5 08-21-2004 6pm $6 128 people max
CG00082 Magic 5-Color World Championships 2004 08-21-2004 9am $4.50 CG00083 Magic 5-Color World Champinships 2004 Semi-Final Draft 08-21-2004 2pm CG00084 Magic 5-Color World Championships 2004 Final Four 08-21-2004 5pm
Also of note (especially for you, Dante), GenCon will be hosting a No Limit Hold'em tournament as well: CG00001 No Limit Hold'em 08-20-2004 1pm $3

The actual title in the registered section says "No Limit Dice Holdem". I wonder what the dice part means....and I see that event starting at 1pm, not 9pm.

The event of 8/22 is also $6 instead of $4. In the past, the side events have been for 16k including last year. The championship was 48k. I didn't do the $250 tournament last year, but the year before, it was 24k.

TCG00399 Magic: The Gathering - Creature Feature T1 Magic: The Gathering Current Everyone (6+) Some Experience Needed 4 2004-08-20 13:00:00 6 128 TCG00400 Magic: The Gathering - Creature Feature T1.5 Magic: The Gathering Current Everyone (6+) Some Experience Needed 4 2004-08-21 18:00:00 6 128
What would be the difference between these two events? I assume a "creature feature" means nothing but creatures. Am I wrong?
Also, It appears WOTC isn't doing much in the way of supporting 1.5 this year seeing as one of these events is the only 1.5 event. Any 1.5 players have a comment on that?

Does anyone know why they dropped the second Thursday tournament? I didn't go last year, but all the years before, there was never one earlier because it's the first day and they wouldn't get a big turnout, esp since a lot of people don't show up until thursday. Also, a lot of times there are registration issues and the people in line don't get in until noon. But that was in milwaukee, maybe things were smoother in Indy.
