Proving people are too stupid to play FCG correctly.

This is from the guy who won Waterbury with a suboptimal build. His logic completely baffles me... so I'm just posting here. Any bold text you see is just my random comments.

I also PMed wuaffiliate with the same question as to why you're saying my build sucks so I'm just gonna reply to you since he referred me to you in his response anyway. So now just some random things I'll say. Maybe I'll sound like an idiot because I don't agree with what everyone else thinks and plays. I am not everyone else. Some of these are responses to some things Wu said. I'm not necessarily sure of the tone of voice when you said things like "wtf is up with the deck list" and stuff but I'm assuming it's in a mean demeanor so please correct me if I'm wrong about that assumption.

1) Chrome Mox and Lotus Petal? No. I don't run Lotus Petal because it's the same reason I'm not running spirit guides. They blow. I'll run Black Lotus cuz it gives me three though. Chrome Mox I have to pitch a card to? No way. Mox Diamond? Not enough lands. <- It helps noone mentioned Mox Diamond and he completely missed the point of mana acceleration

2) Weird combo of anti-artifact? yeah. Gotta get around Chalice. Naturalize? Humility and Moat hurt.  No see, you say fuck chalice and lay Lackey. Or you run 4 Rack and Ruin, not some weird ass 2x2x2x set up.

3) Screw Moat, Wait didn't he just say Naturalize was for Moat? But now he says screw Moat? you have Sharpshooter and Prospector? I am less concerned with late game. BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW PROSPECTOR SUCKS DROPPING FOOD CHAIN OR WARCHIEF TURN 2 I wanna beat your face in fast and early. I play aggro. I'm tired of my playing my control decks. Also, Keeper has been in decline recently but I think it's coming back. Workshop decks appear to be going down now amazingly. (Wu says my choices aren't going to be about metagame, but the yare) No, your just not making sense. Really

4) Vandal over Prospector. I am aware that there is a "mini-combo" with prospector if you don't have Food Chain out, No you didn't, you didn't even know until JP told you. And I don't feel like it, is a retarded excuse even if you had known but I didn't feel like it. I needed answers for the "expected heavy artifact metagame." (so i was wrong, big deal).

5) There are two types of decks. Decks that run artifacts or decks that run null rod. I have no room for null rod. I need something don't I? So i stuck in some vandals. No big deal. Yeah um... making no sense 4L

6) I don't care what you say about Tinkerer. he eats Factories, Moxes, Rings, Vaults, Dreadnoughts, and sacrifices himself to anything else.

7) Maze of Ith? That's the answer to 7/10, Colossus, Exalted Angels sometimes (keeper plays wastes), slightly to Tog (barring a time walk). No your anwser to 7/10 is WINNING. Go figure you'd want to play clearly defensive cards in a pure aggro/combo deck/

8) No blood moon? To slow.

9) No room. FCG is very packed. There is like nothing to toy around with. I chose to cut Shooter and Prospector slots for other stuff to try out. Sharpshooter and Prospector is not a 'secondary combo' that is needed.

Your right, in the optimal build there's like 2 cards to screw around with. You still don't cut good cards to go fuck around with stuff.

i didnt say anything really bad just wtf was that list, i guess he wanted to bring it up, who am i to hold back?

actually its bad for the following reasons:
1) no sharpshooter or prospectors, its a secondary combo that is needed, there is no reason to play bad cards over it.

2) bad sideboard choices, no reason to run naturalize, artifact mutation helps toward your goal of beat down, there are no enchantments that harm you, but you weakened yourself to moat by not running sharpshooter. maze of ith is bad in FCG there is NO reason for it AT ALL.

3) you ran no chrome mox or lotus petal, there is no reason for that at all, the mana acceleration is needed and the deck would still play 4 chrome mox if it wasnt restricted.

just PM Vegeta2711 he can give you a whole write up why it was bad im lazy, dont even try and tell me it was metagamed because it wasnt.

you just must have been a damn good player to win with such a bad build, net decking and playing a crappy build without an important piece (shooter+specter) is very different. it really has nothing to do with my not winning, i had a great time and met alot of friends, why would i care if i won or not?

if you feel raw about it, just start a threat in open about it and discuss your version of FCG.

meh, i figured he should know. Josh's points also help. but he will feel attacked so he wont change it, he will probly take piledrivers out for jackal pups to smite us

So what? Someone won a tourney with a suboptimal build? What's the problem with that? That's not a reason to make fun of him and post random bitchenings about discussions you had with him through private messages.

Stop being elitist assholes please, that's really annoying. If he can win tourneys with bad builds while you can't even Top16 at these tourneys with the best ones, maybe that's because he knows how to play Magic while you don't ... Jaleousy?

First off Read this and tell me if he is a good player, he doesnt even understand the deck.

I know people who do play with him and do know he is indeed a bad player. he made t16 through tie breakers at 6-2, if this was a t8 event like it should have been maybe we would have had an accurate top8 instead of those who were flawless vs those who lost many games. if it was top8 we would not have this problem, missing important parts of a deck is inexcusable.

i wouldnt say its jealousy i went to have fun, i got to meet alot of people and have a milk shake at dennys. i just think its terrible people will now want to play bad FCG builds because they will look at the list that by luck made it to the finals.

Heh. Mostly I just found it funny. BTW, how much do you like the 'Team Morons' in your sig making fun of Standstill players? :lol:  I mean c'mon, a lot of people on this site does this, even you. Remember all the people who used to make fun of the European results?

One other thing, I'm on the west coast and hence getting to any sort of large tourney on the east coast is rather difficult for me. So unless I start hiding in Jacob's suitcases when he goes out there, I don't believe I'll top 8 in those tourneys.

You can criticize his build without going to the invisible forum and snickering behind his back. It's relatively "whatever" on IRC, but the forums are intended to minimize "bitchenings" and personal grudges. You should confine your shock at their awfulness to the appropriate threads where their builds are being displayed for critique. At that point feel free to drag out all of your evidence and play experience to pwn them senseless. You can do the same with your dislike of the T16 idea, which I happen to agree with.

But this is just a flamebait user-bash on someone who can't post to defend himself or even know that he's being criticized. (Leaving aside for the moment the idea that a PM isn't intended to be publicized in most cases.)

Unless Z or someone else really thinks that this is worthwhile, Closed.
