With regards to the other thread by the same name, many people brought up points hating on people who are trying to convert and existing or old extended deck to T1. WTF! Clearly Magic has shown us that some of the greatest decks aren't brand new, but different or updated evolutions to the same deck. This is clearly obvious to anyone who is familiar with the evolution of the Sligh deck. It started out wayyy back in the day, evolved several times through Alliance, Mirage, Tempest, ect. Now its RDW and Goblins/ Goblin Bidding. Its all based on the same idea.
Now if we apply the same logic but in a backwards way, we see that "new" decks, from T2, can be adapted to play in T1. Tog is an example of this. You guys wouldn't even know Psychatog existed if it hadn't been for people playing T2. The same can be said of Necropotence and Extended, or Yawgmoth's Will and extended. So, extended Tog is really just an version of T2 Tog that runs cards in extended that work out better than the cards that it would've ran in T2, and cards that are better suited to the overall metagame. T1 Tog is the very same way. You take your EXTENDED Tog and add cards from T1 that are better suited/ more powerful than their extended counterparts, or work better in the metagame. So, Tog in T1 really is just a big adaptation of Extended Tog, which is created by "tweaking" your extended deck and calling it T1.
Why should you discourage people from trying to make a budget Tog deck in T1? I'm sure no one can claim that they have examined how every card interacts when its added to the Tog build, so it doesn't make sense to discourage people from trying to adapt the Tog deck further, in a budget sense or not. Magic is all about testing out new ideas for a deck. Even if the idea isn't good, or doesn't look good at first, it might have some merit later on or when it's applied to a different situation. You should never discourage people from sharing their ideas. It reflects poorly on the T1 community and on Magic players as a whole. The people who posted in that other thread had a ridiculously high opinion of themselves. Like someone posting an idea on this message board is going to damage their life in some profound way. If you don't like the post, don't read it. Someone else out there might like to read it, though, and you should leave that up to them.
In the other thread, someone said that people posting budget Tog decks and other people discussing them decreases the quality of disucssion on the site. That statement is completely assinine. Posts like the one's talking about how people shouldn't post on certain topics decrease the overall quality of discussion on the site. Not only are you taking up space and time that could be better served talking about Magic, your making yourself and your community looks like a bunch of hypocrites. Instead of posting about how something degenerated the discussion on the site, post quality messages. You'll have a much greater effect that way.
I apologize to the moderator who closed down the other post to prevent more degenerate discussion of the topic. I felt that there were several major points that people didn't seem to get about Magic and the Magic community in general.
