My First Top 8

So I finally had some success out at Dreamers. It was Sunday, playing for a Pearl. My list that day and a brief report.

Round 1 Mirror match, I win because my opponent gets mana screwed game 3 and makes some big errors game 1. He sees one island for 7 turns game 3, and game 1 he slaves me twice and never taps my shivan reef.

Round 2 FCG tosses me like a teen-age girl at a Slayer concert. Not much else to say here, I never see a food chain, it's pretty much pilke driver sligh and I have no answers.

Round 3 Three close games against R/G beatz. I don't remember games1/2 very well, game three was wild. He taps all his land to active treetop villages and swings putting me at one life, he has incinerate and l.bolt in his hand. I eot thirst and drop a mindslaver, weld, slave, then destroy his board, swing with memnarch for 5 turns(6 with the sickness) while he tries to topdeck burn. I get out of it with 3 points and sweating bullets.

Round 4 A good match up for me, 2 land belcher. Crcuhes me game 1 and I board masssive hate to win game 2 and 3. Out go the slavers and wish and I turn into an aggro-control deck.

Round 5 ID with Gay/Red thank God he gave me the draw, otherwise I would've died. I hate that deck.

First round in Top 8, I'm the 8th seed playing Number 1, he gets me in three games. It's close but I can't keep up.

Props to Jason for another well run tourney. To Don and Jesse for being there, always nice to see a Father/Son outing at the magic table. To my opponents for the most part, gentleman, in particlur the 14 year old killing me with food/chain.

Slops to metal worker, you're no mox baby and the goddamn chalice monkey. Anyone who says, "I should've/would've/could've won that game", I'm used to losing and I don't say that shit, so come on.

Humorous moments: I cunning wish for a Rack and Ruin after siding them all in, thats a dead play(pay 3, remove cunning wish from the game). Some kid tells me that there is a most dominant deck in the format and it is Oshawa Stompy.

All in all a great day, i've been playing in sanctioned type 1 for maybe a year, this would be maybe my tenth or 11th tournament, and my best finish before this was 19th of 41, most of the time I simply sucked, so finally getting to the second round was a huge day for me. Sooner or later I may even win one.
