AEther Flash - 2RR
Whenever a creature comes into play ~this~ deals 2 damage to that creature.

Although not as board sweepingly potent as the disk, this definately could improve matchups where there are small drain targets and floods of creatures. The weenie swarms that something like OStompy gets would die horrible deaths. As well as killing off welders and putting Angels within bolt range. As it doesn't count towards playing a spell, something like this would be great when you don't have counters in hand. It serves as great backup/burn that functions under standstill and has synergy with manlands. The casting cost is the only thing that is really offputting....any other thoughts?

and putting Angels within bolt range

...or you could just kill them with disk

Aether Flash
Pros:
-deal with weenies

Cons:
-only deals with weenies
-doesnt help against artifacts/enchantments
-need RR early to make it useful
-isnt as effective a drain sink
-doesnt help with stuff already on the board

You cant replace Disk with this card as there is too much crap it doesnt answer, and it is a permanent so you dont really wanna play it with Disk either--especially when you likely have to invest a full turn casting it..

Disk is just an overall better option against the metagame.

I didn't mean it as a replacement for disk....more as a supplement like slice and dice is used in SB.

aether flash is terrible. Since it costs 2RR, by the time you would realistically drop it, their weenies would already be owning you. Further this by the fact that mana drain doesn't speed it up at all, and you've got a terrible card. Slice and Dice is good tech, though.

Aether Flash is terrible. Slice and Dice is almost equally as terrible, trust me on that one.

@shockwave - what does landstill have to combat floods of creatures? it's too slow imho to just rely on disk.

well, infact if you seem to be faceing a large amount of scruby aggro as such, than i dont sugest playing landstill in your area, however it is control, and disk simply is the best answer, Drain for 1/2 on turn 2 and cast on 3, active on 4 if not faster. And with forces in your hand they wont be able to accumulate that much board room. I think this is simply case closed, NOBODY WANTS IT

Bolt, Fire/Ice and (perhaps to a lesser extent) Slice and Dice all do a nice job of holding off the horde until Disk can take over.  That, and your Factories usually can be 3/3 blockers in a pinch.
