I saw a similar thread, though it regarded a different area, so I decided to post something along those lines.

I'm going to be moving to the Los Angeles / Santa Monica area of California in the middle of the summer and was wondering about the Type 1 scene out there.

I look forward to continue playing Vintage Magic.

Thank you very much.

Good stuff.

I organize tournements rather regularly down in central Orange County (please, for the love of god, don't call it "The OC".... it'll just make me cry), which usually end up drawing 30-40 and have a P9 for prize.  Additionally, there's an AWESOME place to buy cards, Frank and Sons, where you can usually find a random pickup game if you're just feeling like playing.  Singles are off the hook cheap there, just look for Don (there are a whole series of vendors).

On top of all that, I'm going to be moving up to UCLA come fall, so I'll be in the Westwood/Santa Monica area myself, and I know of at least one other player up there.  I've got a regular playtest group down here in Orange County, and you'd be more than invited to come playtest with us, but it'll probably be a 45 minute drive.

There is a rather large number of players overall, but we're rather spread out.  It's all about finding the time to get together with the other folk.

Robert, Pat, good to hear there are more people coming to the west side.

In addition to the Frank and Sons venue, there are sometimes tourneys at Collectors Paradise as seen here:

I live in West LA (just south of UCLA, just east of Santa Monica) and would like to get in touch to playtest and play a few games locally.  (driving 1 hr to F&S or OC can be rough)

PM me when you arrive.
