I hit upon an idea I liked with the military training cycle. Since White is the colour of preparation, the whole delayed effect idea seems to be a good fit for the colour. By having the delay, White may gain access to abilities that are very powerful for their mana cost (like in the military training cycle) or that are slightly off-colour (like the cards I'm presenting here.) Furthermore, the delayed effect idea works well with enchantments, which further reinforces White as the enchantment colour. Preparing for Darkness  {W} Enchantment ~This~ comes into play with two preparation counters on it. During your upkeep, remove a preparation counter from ~this~. As long as ~this~ has no preparation counters on it, ~this~ gains "Sacrifice ~this~: Destroy target black permanent." Rebuking Chaos {W} Enchantment ~This~ comes into play with two preparation counters on it. During your upkeep, remove a preparation counter from ~this~. As long as ~this~ has no preparation counters on it, ~this~ gains "Sacrifice ~this~: Counter target red spell or ability." |

There were griffins in mirage with similar abilites, iirc. These seem underpowered.

Daraja Griffin sacrificed to destroy a black creature.
Unyaro Griffin sacrificed to counter a red instant or sorcery.
I think I agree that these are underpowered though. Even though you get them twice as fast as you could get the Griffins, they don't come attacked to 2/2 flying bodies. Would only having one turn delay be sufficient to make them a little more potent?

I knew the griffins didn't have identical abilities, I just said they were similar.
I'm pretty sure these would be fine with no delay counters, actually. Maybe if you want to keep the delay aspect, you could ramp up the power.
