Starting card
Greedy Ogre
1R
Creature -- Ogre
4/4
As an additional cost to play ~this~, sacrifice a land or an artifact.
R, sacrifice sacrifice a land or an artifact: ~this~ gains haste or trample until the end of turn.
"A powerful but expensive ally."

[EDIT]

Actual card
Greedy Ogre
2R
Creature -- Ogre
4/4
When ~this~ comes into play, sacrifice it unless you discard a land card or an artifact card from your hand.
Sacrifice a land or an artifact: ~this~ gains haste or trample until the end of turn.
"A powerful but expensive ally."

[/EDIT]

Rarity: Rare.
Concept: A powerful ogre which slowly destroys your resources.
Issues: Too powerful? 2R can be nicier as casting cost, perhaps. Can be considered "weenie"?

Quote
3. Four rare creatures. One should be a Dragon of some sort, and none should be weenies. At least two should be single-red in their cost.

This is my idea for one of the red rare creature you need.

BTW, last one for today.

Plant Elemental  Summon - Creature [3/4]   1G
When Plant Elemental comes into play from your hand, destroy one of your forests or destroy Plant Elemental.

This is from Portal, famed for its overpowered cards. Your card is more in flavour for Red but costs a massive additional cost of an artifact to give you +1/+0 over the Plant Elemental.

The Ogre looks too weak. I think it could easily destroy a Basic Mountain or an Artifact Land rather than its current additional cost. In addition I prefer the Plant Elementals wording as it allows you to play it and not pay the additional cost (stack tricks)

As it stands you can pay 2R for a Hasted 4/4 if you sac a land and 2 artifacts!!!

(I guess you could have it put an artifact in the graveyard from play or from your hand)

Discarding makes this a lot stronger. Probably too strong.

Just to be clear (which I wasn't before as I was thinking outloud), I think the CIP ability should be 'sac a Basic Mountain (I could be persuaded into Basic land) or Artifact'

The Haste/Trample ability could be fuelled by discarding as Madness isn't really an issue with discarded Land and Artifacts.

The current version is way too good. It is a Rogue Elephant that has +1/+1 and an ability for 1 more mana but you can sac any land or artifact to its CIP ability!!!

I'd say make it 2R for the card as it is now. That way is costs the same as grey ogre and makes a nice contrast since both are ogres. The extra mana would also serve to balance the card.

Minotaur Explorer
{1}{R}
Creature -- Minotaur
3/3
When Minotaur Explorer comes into play, sacrifice it unless you discard a card at random from your hand.

Jacob's card is quite a lot better for constructed purposes.
