We had a small unsanctionned tourney in a little town close to Paris this week end. Full proxies decks were allowed and I decided to go with a cooler Tog deck, because I don't like the current Tog decks.

The deck is named Jacob_Orlove.dec because It's all like Jacob, great, reliable and full of awesomeness. <3 Razz

// Jacob_Orlove.dec
// Manabase -- 23
4 Polluted Delta
4 Undergound Sea
4 Tropical Island
3 Volcanic Island
1 Library of Alexandria
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Island
1 Sol Ring
1 Black Lotus
// Protection and removal -- 11
4 Mana Drain
4 Force of Will
2 Duress
1 Pernicious Deed
// Draw and Tutors -- 18
4 Brainstorm
4 Accumulated Knowledge
3 Cunning Wish
3 Intuition
1 Time Walk
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Time Walk
1 Regrowth
// Psychatog is overrated -- 8
3 Reap
3 Prismatic Lace
2 Death Lace
// Sideboard -- 15
SB: 1 Reap
SB: 1 Prismatic Lace
SB: 1 Blue Elemental Blast
SB: 3 Red Elemental Blast
SB: 1 Vampiric Tutor
SB: 1 Pernicious Deed
SB: 1 Moment's Peace
SB: 2 Coffin Purge
SB: 1 Ebony Charm
SB: 1 Naturalize
SB: 1 Rack and Ruin
SB: 1 Oxidize

Yeah, Tog-less Tog makes me = Very Happy

Tourney starts at 2:30PM, featuring 5 swiss rounds and a Top4 only.

Round 1 - White Weenie.
My opponent opens with a basic Plains. Very Happy I drop an Island and Prismatic Lace is Plains EOT. I have a Mana Drain on my turn 2 for one of his crappy dudes in order to speed up my turn 3 Intuition for 3AKs, and I draw 3 at his EOT into a Death Lace and Ancestral Recall. I Ancestral into 2 Reaps and start drawing billions of cards each turns by Reaping my Ancestral Recall and the AK for 3 and I eventually find Time Walk for infinite turns. I have a turn 2 Pernicious Deed game 2 which basically seals the game. He drops me down to 8 life before I clear the board, I Cunning Wish for Moment's Peace in order to buy 2 more turns, Brainstorm into Demonic Tutor which gets me the Reap I needed to combo him off with infinite mana and turns and whatever I want.
1-0 (2-0)

Round 2 - Stacker (monobrown).
I have a first turn Duress and take his Sol Ring since he's really light on mana (he reveals Metalworker, Academy, Ancient Tomb, Ring and expensive stuff). He stalls on 2 mana for billions of turns while I draw like an ass thanks to Intuition for AK, AK3, Cunning Wish for Reap getting the AK3 back. Nevertheless, I draw no counters and he resolves a turn 6 or so Metalworker. I cast AK4 and Ancestral Recall but my 3 maindeck Reaps are stuck in the 10 last cards of my deck. I lose to the billions of fats he unloads thanks to Metakworker. Game 2 I have a strong land Mox Sapphire opening, allowing me to Mana Drain his first turn Chalice of the Void. I use the mana to Intuition for AKs and Rack and Ruin some of his artifacts. I fail to draw the black source I need to cast the Death Lace, the Demonic Tutor and the Pernicious Deed I have in hand and Reapping the Rack and Ruin does not buy me enough time.
1-1 (2-2)

Round 3 - Combo.
Opponent has to go. Free wins rules Razz
2-1 (4-2)

Round 4 - GermBus.
I'm on the draw and drop a first turn LoA which is unanswered for 4 turns or so. LoA is broken in Control mirrors ... When he finally manages to dig into a Wasteland, he already has 3 black permanents and the EOT counterwar over my Reap is obviously in my favour thanks to the insane card advantage of the LoA. I Reap back Mana Drain, FOW and LoA, LoA is soon active again and I draw into another Reap a few turns later with Lotus in the graveyard, and I Ebony Charm him to death. Game 2 is strongly in my advantage too since I manage to resolve AK for 3, AK for 4 and Ancestral Recall. He has 3 black permanents and I just need to draw a second Reap to win the game. I let resolve an Angel since I expect to win before 5 turns and I'd rather fight over my own Reap, but I draw shit and lose. Game 3 he has a first turn Ancestral Recall at my upkeep but I manage to resolve mine too thanks to Duress. I lace some of his lands, resolve AK3 at his EOT thanks to a Duress and countermagic (REB rules), I Reap the AK3 and resolve it again, I have 6 cards in hand and he has none. He topdecks Demonic but I have Mana Drain for it and EOT Intuition for Walk Lotus and a random stuff, and Ebony Charm does its job once again.
3-1 (6-3)

Round 5 - EBA.
He is stuck into a severe mana death game 1 while my Duresses remove his FOW to help me resolve Intuition, AK3 and AK4. I Reapped AK4 twice before I eventually draw into Time Walk and start taking infinite turns. I explain him my win processus and he scoops. Game 2 is more balanced since he manages to resolve his own Ancestral Recall but EBA is EBA and my Red Elemental Blast rules him. I Lace his lands, fight into a counterwar over his Exalted Angel in order to deplete his hand of his counters, and freely resolve the game winning Reap on my own turn.
4-1 (8-3).

I'm third at the end of the swiss before my gf calls me and wants me to go back home, forcing me to drop.

!! Why would you play this over Tog?

* Tog mirrors suck.
* You'll never play the mirror, ever.
* You don't need to keep Reap on the board for a full turn in order to win.
* Reapping the third or fourth AK is cool.
* "EOT I Death Lace your land" is savage tech.
* Deep Analysis hurts your life total while Reapping Ancestral Recall doesn't.
* People aim their Wastelands at your Seas thinking you play Tog and all you need is Tropical Islands.
* Using the drain life mode of Ebony Charm > swinging with Tog.
* The Dutchies often play Tog and you don't want to play the same decks as the Dutchies, don't you?
* You'd have an excuse for going 2-5 in tourneys since you are playing a rogue deck that suck.
* Cunning Wish for Prismatic Lace is fresh. Cunning Wish for Berserk has already been seen billions of time, right?
* Jacob_Orlove.dec is the best_deck_name_ever_(tm).

Adam Bowers (Ill_dawg) played a list very similar to this  in SEVERAL new england tournies earlier this year. It was hilarious.

Best deck in a European Top 8? Oh yes. Too bad the rest of you had to vote without knowing about this.

You're my hero  Razz (mostly because you played Sol Ring over Pearl)

Interesting, but really better?
Reap was cool cause people used to play black cards...  Twisted Evil

Btw, when your opponent plays zero permanents during the game it becomes pretty hard to win eh?

Not really.  You just Ancestral them 3-5 times around turn 35.  Smile

It's a little hard to win counter wars with FOW on turn 35 when your maximum hand size is 7, eh?  Wink

Well, during round 5 I laughed pretty hard (my opponent was like "wtf?") because I realized I was fucked if my opponent went "Remove Elvish Spirit Guide for {G}, cast Llanowar Elves, go" and stopped playing permanents. Very Happy

Thanks to my extensive knowledge of Dutch from the subtitles on the Star Trek episodes I downloaded almost three years ago, I will translate this for those of you who don't speak it:
