hi all,
these are the results of our weekly tourney. We have 54 players, Alpha Timetwister for the first and other cool Foil for the other Top8ers ( Intuition, Vampiric Tutor, Decree of Justice and so on... ) and the usual huge prize for the Best Unpowered Players.
I didn't made any precise statistic yet, but I feel that the 80-85% of the field was fully or partially powered and played with well build and not subpar decks.
I feel bad for my own final result with my usual control deck ( my worst result ever made 3-3
), but this time seemed that EVERY control player ( excluding the one in the Top8 that smash faces without problems in every match ) performed at his worst... . Bad pairings, bad and unlucky draws, random loss to random players and so on.. all these things seemed to curse us all.
Artifact based decks and combo decks performed at their best.
Some of them seemed to be unstoppable.
5D brings some new cards to the large pool available by every Artifact Player, but the more abused among the new cards have been : Crucible of the Worlds and Staff of Dominance. I see a lot MUD and Stacker "combo-out" the entire deck and oblige concession on turn 2-3. A bit frightening IMHO, but nothing untolerable. CoW have been used both by Artifact and Control players and both as maindeck cards and/or sideboard card. I used 1 CoW in my side for the Mirror Match and to help the development of my mana base against ManaDenial Strategies. It works really well for me and I'll add another one if I can made some space in my side.
The DARgon and TPS players didn't seem too worried about the come of the post-5D-Era. They play the same deck assembled 3 months ago with only minor changes.
Aggro seemed to be the Worst category among all the other that we had at our tourney. Aggro-Players seemed unprepared to the different Opponents, they usually played subpar decks and they seemed the less skilled among all the other. I think that the great reason about the lack of good results from the "AggroDecks" have to be referred to the players themselves. They are not so innovative and not so good as the others.

1 Turn - 4C-HulkSmash - 1-2 - The one in the TOp8. Piloted by the best Atog player here around
Game1. My deck screwed me. He won
Game2. My deck screwed him. I won
Game3. He have all his Restricted List in the grave on turn 3 and Y.Willed my face on turn 4. He Won.
2 Turn - 4C-ScepterControl - 1-2 - A cool young player.
Game 1. I saw 2 lands and won the match with them and some restricted.
Game 2. I saw 2 lands and no restricted showed up and he won because of 2 Waste and other useless things ( Ancestral on Stick )
Game 3. I saw 2 lands and he won another time.. ble bla bla.
3 Turn - Aggro-Control-Combo-Exteme-Random-Deck - At least the player was cool...
Game 1. Land Ritual Necro --> The deck is so bad that I "risky" to win the game either. I lose.
Game 2. Normal things/spell/land rate easily won my second game.
Game 3. Nonsense.dec explode with fury. Necro, Y.Will, Duress, Mongrels, UnusedRestricted, Wheel of Fortunes, Sinkhole, Shades and Picatciuù bring me down to 3. Ancestral, Double Braisntorm and other things showed me only lands and skeletals and unplayable spells. I lose.
4 Turn - GoBBo.
Game 1. 2 Normal Angels on Turn 3. I won
Game 2. Mountain Lotus Petal Sol Ring Blood Moon on his first turn and Mountain Null Rod on his second. I concede
Game 3. 1 Exalted Angel attack on my 3rd turn. I won.
5 Turn - 3C-DARgon
Game 1. I StPed 2 Swarm and Wasted his Bazaars. 2 Skeletals draw me a lot of cards. I clean the board with Shamans and Wastes again
Game 2. He kept a bad Hand IMHO. I FoW his Swarm and Disenchant his AnimateDead on Swarm. He Vamp for Bazaars but I have 2 Waste ready for it. He scoop soon after without gas.
6 Turn - 4C-Hulk Smash
Game 1. I risked to win a game during which he resolved Intuion for Deep Deep Duress and another one for 3 AKs. He seemed to have drawn only some pitch counters and all the mana he had. I had 3 lands in play for the entire games but I counter a threat every round. My own Mana Drains accelerated me a bit and I lay a little Angel at some point. He Break PerniciousDeed and Topdeck Y.Will the next turn...
Game 2. I Mindtwist for 2 in my second turn taking out His own Mindtwist and a ReB. I try Ancestral eot to take out another counter he could have had in hand but he let it resolve. He had his pants down. I won 3 turns later thanx to Skeletals and ReBs
Game 3. I layed a fast Angel and he run as a mad to get rid of it, consuming a lot of resources. My 4 Skeletals and my 4 ReBs and all the other Restricted waited a bit in my hand but he tapped out at some point and I took my last 3 points thanks to this crazy/bad move

The deck is a blast but My Ego is under my shoes.
