This idea is not original. It has already been posted in the t1 forum, but since I am not allowed to post anything there, I figured I would make a forum here for discussion, where us "lesser beings" of Magic could discuss it. What is it? Simply a new (er) form of GAT using the Key draw spells from 5th Dawn, such as Night's Whisper and Serum Vision's, to try and make it almost as good as it was in the days of unrestricted Gush. Now there are quite a few difference between the deck list I have been tinkering with, and the one discussed in the t1 forum. 1 big difference, I play the Draw7's. Why? Because I play it like a combo deck, not a "well I have 4 FoW, 4 Mana Drain, 2 Duress, and a MisD, but it's still combo" deck, but a true suicidal Combo deck. More draw, less disruption, your goal is to win ASAP. Why play it over the more control version? Speed. One of the longest debates in Magic, which will probably NEVER end, speed vs. disruption, which is better in combo yadda yadda. Anywho, here is my deck list, which I leave to you to rape, pillage, or give me credit for. I have done much testing with it, goldfishing on average turn 4, even with Key spells being countered. Cards to worry about in it: Chalice for 2, 3Sphere, and Tendrils of Agony (LOL).

As u can see the only counter I run is 4 FoW. Has it been enough? Sometimes more than enough. I have played Slaver, Fish, GAT, and Ravager. I have not played Tendril's, OStomp, or Madness. Against OSTOMP/Madness/Sligh, I imagine it would always ne a close match, as between fetchlands, fastbond, and night's whisper, I am almost always below 10 life when I finally combo out with a 12/12 dryad or 50/25 berserked Tog. Why the draw7's? Because it's a combo deck, and combo deck's are sposed to run draw7's so they can do stupid crazy things. This deck is not for reservists of any sort, u just go for the win, all balls out, and if you stall, u try again next turn. With this deck it's very possible to simply draw a brainstorm or night's whisper and fo right back into combo mode, even after losing steam the first time. Remember everything u put inot the grave the first time u tried to combo out is just fodder for Y Win or Tog. Now to answer some Q's before they are even asked. 1;) Why only 1 Wish? Without the mana from Mana Drain's, it's harder ro cast the Wishes, and Keep availble mana for what u want, thus the one wish. Also, with all the draw, 9/10 I get the cards I need anyways, and I had so many times that I looked at wish and just said "I wish this was a beserk or Fire/Ice" thus why it's now 1 of each. Same reason I don't play Tutor's. The Draw just get's what I need. If anything, I may just replace the Cunning Wish for a Vampiric tutor, as it's 1 mana, and can still get whatever I need. Further testing will tell. 2;) Why only 4 FoW? I tested this with Duress and MisD and Daze. Daze had merit, as it was tempo and mana gain with Fastbond, but I found out more and more that I would rather have the Draw. When ur drawing 3-5 cards a turn for the first 2 turns, then u just go crazy, eventually ur opponent is going to run out of Counter's, and all u need FoW is for those cards that are just going to kill ou, like Chalice for 2. In the t1 forum they had a slot for Mox Monkey for this, but my deck is all about tryng to kill them before they get that Chalice, or at least getting a FoW in hand to stop it.
OK, if there are more questions post them. I will be glad to answer any of them, and for those who wish to play me just msg me on AIM knghjohn, or e-mail me with idea's/time you want to play (on apprentice) at
serracollector@hotmail.comI really like this deck, as it is a combo deck, and has that feeling of just wanting to Draw Draw Draw, and just watch as yor opponent cries, or scoops after your Dryad hits the double digits. Is it competitive enough? We'll see, but I can says for sure it's some fun, and despite popular beleif, magic is still a game, and can be fun while being competitive.
