Digging around through some cards the other day I was looking for something new to add to fish possibly pushing it further into the absolute brokeness catagory it already seemingly fits into. Behold, I go through the first box and I saw a card that interested me very much, Mask Of Memory. Talk about senergy with Lavamancer! After a dreadful thought process with myself though, I automaticly hosed the possibility of it ever seeing play, discarding is not a thing that Fish wants to do very often, but then again mask peels through the junk that you don't need and gives more fuel for the Lavamancer not to mention letting you find those oah so needed situational cards.

I would like to get some opinions on this topic, and see if they come anywhere close to the conclusions I have made for myself, which are the following:

1. Although drawing cards is never a bad thing, discarding is unless you already have a Lavamancer out is usually a bad thing.

2. Mask being an artifact has an awful lot of hate aimed towards it, especially in the current meta.

3. Mask complicates the "tempo" of the deck.

Any and all imput is appreciated, maybe we can somehow place this card in the deck. Thanks in advance.

1. Mask costs 3 times as much.

2. Mask makes you deal combat damage, so it doesn't work with pingers.

3. Null Rod, Oxidize, Welder.

Against Welders, Lavamancers can kill them quite easily, no?

As for the casting cost, Fish can pay it and see what happens, no?

How often does Fish need mana availiable?  FOW, Daze? Once Mask of Memory resolves, it is there until the opponent destroys it. (how many T1 decks play green at the moment?)

Does this mean Mask of Memory deserves a 4of slot? No. Not yet.  But 1 or 2 is at least worth trying, yes?

As for discarding cards, when exactly does Fish get decked, anyways? In the REALLY long game?  Try it out, says LotusHead.

Don't forget if you use Mask you CAN'T use Null Rod which is a killer in this deck.

3 mana + equip cost means Mask isn't going to be drawing cards until turn 4 at EARLIEST, which means Curiosity will have drawn 2-3 cards by then.  This alone is enough to play Curiosity over Mask, but the other stuff people already mentioned just hurts mask more.

You either never played fish or never played type 1.  Fish needs mana to activate lavamancers and manlands, keep Voidmage Prodigy active if needed, and eats up land drops by using strips.  You have a lot less mana than you think.

There's more decks with green than you think, but this point is mostly irrelevant.
