I have been playing Hulk for a while (my own version, thank you very much), but I have a simple question that no one has ever given me a straight answer.

I run a maindeck Berserk (Yes, the blasphamy), and it has never hurt in ANY tourny I have gone to.  It usually helps, mainly because people are so used to seeing people have to wish to get their only zerk.  So they counter the wish.

But why do people not run a maindeck berserk?  I have never found it to be a dead draw, and was curious as to this.

Being the guy whose deck (not Hulk) runs 4 maindeck Berserks, I couldn't say for sure Wink

However, Hulk is a tight deck and often, especially early, you'd rather see a draw spell or a counter or something. In your opening hand it's effectively mulliganing down to 6.

It probably depends on how your personal version differs from the standard accepted version of Hulk.

With only three copies of Psychatog in the standard build, running Berserk in the main is not practical. Drawing it in your opening hand, for example, does you little-to-no good. Even if your intent to to play on an opponent's creature as a means of eliminating it. You generally only need it when you are going to win the game not any time before then. Berserk doesn't need to be in the main for that to happen.

Well, I run 4 maindecked Togs, as well as a maindeck Zerk.  I have used it on my opponents creatures, but it usually isn't a bad draw, and I think I have had only one draw I can remember when my deck didn't give me a Tog with the Zerk, but it gave me a Demonic Tutor.

Thanks guys.

So you have never drawn the berserk in your first hand, or early game at all?  It's not played main because It doesn't need to be played main, when your going to kill with tog, you have a bunch of cards, and enough protection where you can just wish for it, rather then using one in your mainboard, while yes, mainboard berserk can often be easier, it's not more important then whatever else you could be playing, it's just simply not needed in the maindeck of hulk....

The deck has essentially no dead cards because it is so redundant and early game Berserk is dead.  Zerk is dead until you are ready for the kill, which at that time you should have Cunning Wish.  Cunning Wish is more versatile and can save your ass.

Thanks guys.

I just don't run the perfect netdecked hulk.  I haven't had enough money to invest all the way.  I don't have an LoA in there (I know, I know, working on it).  I did need some other draws, and I don't have intuition.  I will replace it when I get more.

Another question.  What do you guys think of Extract?

The card sucks.  It is only decent on turn 1 and doesn't do anything to your opponent's current hand/board position.
