Recently, Bleiweiss managed to unapologetically piss off the entire Type I community. He said their decks were unoriginal. He told them they were bad players. He called them whiny elitists, and he showed no remorse for his actions. What could he possibly have been thinking and what is he going to say next? If you are a Type I player (or just someone who really dislikes Ben Bleiweiss), then this is the article for you!"

Now my only request here is that you guys reply mostly on the forums on SCG.

Oh man, the first thing I thought back when I read two days ago that Ben Bleiweiss was starting a column was "oh man, I can't wait for the Type 1 audience-targetted one!"

Ben's t1 articles are actually the only t1 oriented things I read on SCG.

Hmm. A helluva lot better than the set review one. I expected him to SAY something like 'I was doing it as a favor to the T1 community', I just didn't expect I'd actually believe it.

I think it's kind of funny how he goes out of his way with every argument he makes that it's constructive blahblah and whatnot. Did somebody threathen him or something? ;p

Holy cows! That's the fastest change of position since a security guard interrrupted Bill and Monica at the white House...

I hope that everyone will behave and make all comments in unregulated forums at SCG now rather than IvoryTower.com (TMD to you and me). I will try to avoid correct spelling so I don't appear elitist.

I think Ben will have to try harder to step down from the position of Type I bogeyman now that MaRo and Wizards have bent over backwards (apart from PORTAL!!!) and the Oscar-bashing has become less trendy. The funny thing is that most of his criticism of Type I was reasonable but just 6 months out of date (I'll take his word that the 5th Dawn picks weren't serious as it is hard to believe that they were)

I think they have every right to be upset that someone thought that they weren't supporting Type I as SCG is probably No.2 after TMD IMHO.

Ben, Ben. Write us a good article about why Portal should be allowed in Type I and I'll forgive you.

Rich said something absolutely shocking over the course of the conversation. It was so out of left field that me, Pete and Ted sat there dumbfounded, staring at one another for several seconds. None of us had a response to Rich's statement. What'd he say?

"Oh, I didn't realize you guys were trying to support Type 1."

I got the feeling that the article was basically an apology. "look, I said something stupid, but I dont want to confess it directly. Therefore I use a lot of words, to say that I still like you etc."

After reading his article I really don't think Ben owes us anything, especially an apology.

And as for his different recomendations in his articles, I think he's 100% correct.

In reflection I feel that I jumped the bandwagon on his first article.  And if his goal was to motivate type 1 players to "defend" their format, or to bring more growth to the format, I think it worked.

He thought that I was just trying to get a reaction from the Type 1 players, which was correct - the purpose of those articles was to get Type 1 players to stick up for their format, and to show all the growth the format had gone through over the near year since the Type 1 championships at Gen Con, 2003.

Unfortunately, that entire plan backfired into a firestorm of controversy and bile, all if it aimed at myself and my article.

Since he personally IM'd me following his first article to defend himself...

I don't buy his tail between his legs bull-shit.

30 * 164 > Payout + Overhead.

Starcity is just as in to type one as I am into trading.

my 2 cents.
