There's been a lot of talk lately on the so-called 'repression' of new deck ideas. All new decks must start as rogue decks sometime or other, so what better way to showcase the new decks than an all rogue deck tourney? The rules are simple. The format will be standard Type 1, 8 or 16 player single elimination (depending on # of people interested). This is strictly for fun, so don't ask about prizes or anything. Smile

The catch is simple. You may not use anything that is currently a tier 1 archetype. This means no Hulk, no Draw-7, no Slaver, etc. In order to 'enforce' this, post the decklist that you plan to use, and if anyone thinks that a deck is too close to a current deck they will have to change. All matches will be played over Apprentice, so post your AIM name as well as if you're firewalled or not. You can contact by e-mail or private messenging when to play. I will, of course, be playing the all-powerful Salvagers.dec

Pertaining to your deck- why do people consider Salvager decks to be "original"? Because the set is like a month old, or because the combo can not possibly work in t2? Maybe because they don't even glance at threads upon threads discussing rumored cards?

If you're assuming Salvager based decks are acceptable to play I'll most likely be playing a closer to good list, so there's no need for me to post it since you've already deemed it "rogue". If I change my deck I'll obviously edit this post. (Is MWS allowed as well?)

I think you should ban certain key cards, ie Mindslaver, Psychatog, etc. - posting the decklists publicly could be a bad idea. It's very hard to define a "rogue" deck, so this might prove difficult.

Au contraire, it's easy. I'm not going to ban any additional cards. If someone wants to bring Parfait Slaver or Mask-Tog I'm perfectly happy.

@Bulls on Parade: I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but you need Apprentice for this tourney.

*finally notices why link was bad*

Open letter to moderators: If you're going to move my topics, at least give a bloody reason. And don't give me the 'blatant ignorance' crap. This in no way fits in Basic User Community. This is testing for (what I'd hope would be at least) up and coming decks. How is this not Newbie Forum? If anything it should be Open T1 or at very least casual, but the Newb Community is for discussion and random things like artwork, not serious testing. I apologize for 'yelling' or 'whining', but I can't really keep it to PMs if the mod who moves it doesn't even post. Rolling Eyes

Dude, don't have a cow.

I didn't move it, but planning appr and MWS rendezvouses is not the same as discussing a deck. It was actually pretty charitable to put it in Community over Casual so you'll get a wider audience.

Consider this a verbal warning to stop large-fonting. It's the exact same rudeness level (or higher) as ALL CAPS, which is specifically discussed in the rules. Please control the urge; our eyes really can read the ordinary font.

I'm saying original =/= sub optimal.

If this is truly your opinion, you should read the rules, but it's really not a big deal anyway because I'm fairly certain more people read Basic User Community than read the Newbie Forum.

Just look at your thread title: "TMD Unofficial Apprentice Non-Tier 1 tourney!".  This isn't a discussion thread--it's a thread to set up an apprentice tournament. Community is where this thread belongs, not in open or newbie. This kind of topic could go in casual, but that's obviously not your intent.

In the future, if a thread gets moved without notice, PM me. I'm practically always on, and I can explain why something got moved even if someone else moved it--there's almost always a good reason, like there was here.

As an aside, I'm not sure why you feel this is "serious testing", since you're playing non-Tier 1 decks against other non-Tier 1 decks, which doesn't actually provide much relevant information.

AngryPheldagrif is trying to get new ideas tested/discussed.  Rogue decks need testing.  I would say that Tier 1 decks should be included to test the viability of said Rogue decks, but much can be gained from pushing innovation.

His Salvager deck, my Salvager deck and Rosetta's Salvager deck are 3 completely different takes on Salvagers.  What else is out there? I know for a fact that AngryPheldagrif has a pretty mean Rogue deck that is NOT Salvager based.

I have no problem with this tread being in Community, but I agree with AngryPheldagri- If a thread is moved and/or closed, give a reason unless is is extrEEMLLY obvious. (so we all know the standards that apply.)

Count me in, but give me a day or two to officially submit my SlapJack.dec (as listed in the Newbie Tournament Report (-1 Island +1 Plains)) for the official Apprentice wars.

Power to the AEther Spellbombs.
