Incidentally...
At the last Mississauga (suburb of Toronto) tournament, I played against Void Black in the swiss round. We ID'ed into Top 8, but for fun, we played 3 games (2 SBed), and I creamed him 3-0. Wasn't even close... it was just a bloody massacre.
Then, as "luck" would have it, I meet him in the Top 8, and he wins 2-1 (I was playing Workshop Slaver). A combination of Nether Void and first turn Planar Void, coupled with vast land destruction (one after another)... well, with a good draw, it can be nasty.
It's a hate deck, simple as that. It's not quite as versatile as Fish (some decks hate other decks... Fish hates the whole bloody environment), but Suicide (or Void) Black, can actually rest surprise wins.
So, while the deck will not win (ironically, it lost to Shock Wave in the Top 4), it can be a pain in the ass to face.

sui is like a bad combo deck. Every now and then it gets these crazy draws that will run you over and win the match, but it’s still a bad deck that can't win consistently enough to ever do well. The annoying thing is that its randomness is powerful enough to knock out an unlucky good player.
Lotus, hymn hit both your lands, play strip, mana burn say go.

The annoying thing is that its randomness is powerful enough to knock out an unlucky good player. Unlucky? Did you miss the mana drain into mind twist, followed by a pair of AKs for two each? If you can't win after that, exactly what kind of start are you looking for?? |
