Entomb should not be taken off the restricted list because dragon does become outrageously fast. I might even go as far as saying that 4Entomb Dragon has a similar percent of turn 1 kills as Charbelcher.

It would be interesting for people to build decks unrestricting only one of the potential unrestriction candidates and run the deck against the gauntlet of todays metagame. Each person who thinks that a controversial card should stay on the restricted list could build a degenerate deck proving its power. This could be sort of like the Battle of the Band decks that Smmenen wrote an article about. A Magic Workstation Tourny could prove why certain cards are restricted. Fun

I would love for Time Spiral to become unrestricted because it is one of my all-time favorite cards. A Time Spiral based deck however would probably become metagame distorting and overpowerful. It could even probably explode through a Trinisphere with basic Islands on turn six.

Enough complained about it that I will unlock this for your repeating off-topic pleasure.

So, this thread has become Alexei Nemov?

What madness?  A fair and balanced metagame...oh the madness.

NOTE: Sarcasm does not come across well on forum boards.

Does anyone really think that Workshop is going to get the axe?  Let's take odds.  I think there is a FAR BETTER chance that certain cards will be unrestricted.  Wouldn't it be nice wake up to world where Entomb is not restricted?  Or how able Braingeyser?  That would be the best thing they could do.

It wasnt sarcasm, my apologies. I should have expanded and created a full and punctual post. By saying 'Madness' I ment this thread about restricting workshop. WOTC will end this debate/madness by not changing anything in T1. Watch. and. see.

Now, just because they (wotc) wont change anything, doesnt mean that it is the right thing. They should remove some things. In addition I wish they would CLEARLY state what and WHY the banned/restricted list is what it is.
WoTC also needs to reinstate the Watch list, and post these lists on the internet clearly so everyone can refer to them

T1 is balanced and, IMO, the best the format has been in the 8 years since Ive been playing it.[/i]

Ok, my understanding here is that this thread is now for fun. If this is not true, let me know.

JP, I found the translation for the picture you uploaded.

Hi, I'm the author of this article.

It's sorry that I can't read through all the replays now because i'm in San Fransisco to compete in Worlds and have no good (all are costly) internet connections.

I hope the subject is still alive next week. Because some arguments are pretty sad from obvious points of view of what I have seen. Because this has developed to a multi/subject thread and some good points dissapear in this maze of "comments".

I will read through the thread wholy as soon as I can and hope that before that people stay to the topic of disscution, becuase its a very interesting subject.

Regards
Kenny

Respond to them (with quotes, if you want) in a new thread. This one is spent.

15 Trinispheres in the Top 8 is not indicative of domination to me.

Small detail... but there were actually 16.

In case anyone didn't know, I have assimilated Steve O'Connell into my internet-spanning web of minions. Resistance is futile.

I just read this whole damn thread, and I've come to the conclusion that threads longer than five pages are terrible, but having my name on both sides of an argument is great! For the record, I am opposed to restricting Workshop right now. As long as Dark Ritual walks this earth, we shall not be safe without Workshops. I'd like to reiterate for anyone who blanks my articles out of their memory that whenever Workshops appear at a dangerous-looking rate, a lot of it is in aggro decks which no one finds especially threatening. The exception to this is recent Italian success with MUD, which may or may not be the best Workshop deck outside of the specific, TPS- and Tog-saturated meta they have. I think it adds more inconsistency than the blue-using versions, but I haven't exactly tested it out.

Ideally, I would nuke the format from orbit, but as long as we're not doing that, mana accelerants can fall one by one. Mana Drain and Ritual are both significantly better than Workshop, and I say this as a person who owns Drains but not 'shops. I think our restriction energies should aim at the less narrow accelerants, and at finally breaking the "no banning" taboo. Tinker as a one-of concerns me more than Workshop as a four-of does.

Restricting Trinisphere is a poor approach, to me, like back when we had the huge arguments about Long and people were interested in restricting Tendrils. I'd say this is a poor option, though it should still be under consideration. Crucible is different, since it breaks such a fundamental idea of the game. It hasn't persuaded me with dominance or ridiculousness yet, so unless I get my way (getting to drop THE BOMB on Type One), I'll leave it alone till it offends me somewhat more. To be honest, I'd rather hit Wasteland than CoW. It's barely worse than Strip Mine, and I don't much care for free land removal. But that's unlikely to happen unless connected with a The Bomb scenario, so I'll stop pipe-dreaming.

Oh look, they should announce things soon.
