Greetings again folks,

It has come to my attention that our September event falls upon Pre Release weekend.  So, to accomodate folks who want to attend both events, we will be shifting our event back one week to the 26th.

Thanks!

The 26th is also the 2nd day of the TMD Champs, what a terrible day to chose, i dont think ill go to a 30 person pearl tourney over a 150+ person full P9 tourney.

On the contrary, this event is incentive to *stay* in Toronto and support our local T1 scene. Seriously, how the fuck else is T1 ever going to grow here? We *finally* get T1 power events happening, but now that's not good enough either. Now the mentality is, "There are better events in the US."

401 can count on my entry fee. Whoever chooses to go to the US over this event, you forfeit your right to bitch and complain about T1 events in our area. There's finally a TO willing to put up power for prizes, let's honour *our* part of the bargain now and support this event.

I seem to recall that the previous tournament was scheduled the same date as the Vintage Champs.  I'm not disagreeing that people should go to these tournaments, but they aren't going to grow if they aren't intelligently planned.

You can't "intelligently plan" for everyone. It's not up to the TOs to find a date this is convenient for the whole T1 community. T1 players in TO have whined about shitty prizes for a long time, so they should be bound by their complaints to attend this event. Otherwise, what's the point of ever holding a local tourney if the US events always take precedence? The importance here is supporting *our* scene. Ok, so the US is giving away gold for 1st and we're giving away Silver. Big fucking deal. We've called to the TOs for prize support and now we have it. People just never seem satisfied though.

The mentality should be to attend US tourneys when there's nothing happening over here. They are *both* power events, so why not support our own? Oh, because the prizes are better in the states? lol. You have a much better chance of winning a 30 man tourney than a 200 man tourney, so that logic doesn't exactly slide.

I saw you at Gencon.  You could have supported your local tournament organizer to forgo Gencon.  Intelligent planning means at least an awareness of other big tournaments.  That doesn't mean they have to not schedule when a big US tournament comes up, but a cursory level of awareness is a good attribute.

I think the fact that they scheduled the same week as Gencon is revealing that it is more than just planning for "everyone" - it's perhaps poor planning, period.

There was not a single local tourney that was offering power the week of Gencon, otherwise you can bet that I would have attended it (had I not already made previous commitments to Gencon).

That's the whole point Steve. TOs shouldn't have to modify their schedules to accomodate the US tournaments. We should *willingly* support these events because they are in our backyard and we requested them.

Unfortunately, Prerelease screwed up the dates. We have tried hard and long to get Type 1 back on the map locally. It is not possible for all
Ontarians to ghet to the States. Some of us have jobs and commitments.  And why did no Americans show up for our Vintage Championships? We had the prize structure. Shouldn't support be reciprocal?
I'm all for your events but don't deny us our own. I would love to see fellow TMDers but we cannot always accomodate.
And Richard I think we get more than thirty players. Average attendance for power is between forty and fifty ... I want you in the top eight Richard ... you've done me in two tournaments in a row!!
