One of the most repeated card types by wizards is 2B=Target opponent discards 2 cards. They learned their lesson with Hymn I think. Here is a way I thought of actually making a card in this slot a bit more useful (basically add a drawback and make it not seems as such a good idea when opponent has 3 or more cards in hand). Im not sure if it is undercosted, due to the sheer size of graveyard abuse in t1 and 1.5. I can see this card costing 1B in oddissey block, and BB in Mirrordin block for example. Which casting cost would be better for the core set?

Beguile
1B
Sorcery
Target opponent draws 2 cards, then discards 4 cards.
Pride cometh before a fall.

Two things about this card are really in flavour for black:
1) Nothing more evil than actually doing someone a favour to build trust before taking advantage of that.
2) It hurts your opponent the most if he is already in a disadvantage (and preying on the weak is also in flavour with black). Its better than Hymn to tourach if your opponent is at 2 cards, but allows your opponent to choose and draw threats if he has more cards in hand. I suppose it aso has a kind of milling effect... I'd put this on a scepter any day. It automatically becomes a nice little milling machine.

Interesting. I was going to say it's overpowered, but it's actually very hard to tell. Nice job.

I think it's perfect, except don't we already have a card named Beguile?

I checked on the databases but actually didnt find one with the name... its sounds familiar though... It's funny. The name sounds so normal magic-cardy, but there are no cards by that name, and there aren't any in the master list either.

Glad you like it.

Matt: Yes, I created a black card called Beguile, but you and Jacob thought it sounded like a blue card and made me change the name. I changed the name to Tyrannize and the thread has been closed and the card is waiting to be added to the master list.

That flavor text isn't very good.

Suggestions for flavour text?

I want something that involves giving someone a gift, only to screw him over.

'pride cometh before a fall'
'he who has little to learn has much to lose'

any good?

Pride cometh before a fall... is very in flavour, but too well-known.

The other one is actually the whole opposite...

Are you sure? They have little to learn (drawing cards), and then much to lose (discarding cards). Doesn't seem too out of flavour to me.

"When they've learned they can trust you... that is the time to strike." - Yawgmoth (or any other name you could think about)

Sounds good?

"You have to be 100% behind someone before you can stab them in the back." -David Brent.

Anyone who watches 'the office' will understand that one a bit better, I think... for example, they'll have heard of David Brent.

Yeah, I think real world references are frowned on. Especially references to 21st-century British mockumentary.

There's not much wrong with "pride comes before a fall", IMO.

So, I dont get it. Is it closed and added? Id really like to start thinking about other cards. You can add the flavour text of your choice if you want. Leave it without Flavour text... I dont know.

Yes, it's closed, dammit! I'll just fix the flavor. Go ahead and start your new cards.[/color]
