Lamp of Visions  Artifact Sunburst (This comes into play with a charge counter on it for each color of mana used to pay its cost.) ,{T}: Scry X, where X is the number of charge counters on ~this~. Then remove a charge counter from ~this~. *** I'm looking to fill the slot of a common artifact that uses charge counters. At present, this is probably uncommon, but I'm going to proceed with it anyway, since it's an interesting card. There's not much to be said about the design. I like how the Sunburst mechanic works. I think that using Sunburst, artifacts can reasonably be made to bleed into other colours' domains, since Sunburst gives the artifact a very polychromatic feel and reduces the artifact's general playability in monochrome decks (thereby reducing fears of the artifact giving a colour too much access to an ability it's not supposed to have.) |

I'd like to include some flavour text on this, but at present, I'm a bit tired to be truly eloquent. The idea I have in mind is something similar to this:
As with all lamps, the light grows dimmer with distance.
But have the text be relevant to the fact that this lamp doesn't gaze down the road, but into the future.

Isn't this really really weak? For this cost you can get artifacts that actually draw you cards. I think adding
'Sacrifice this: Draw a card'
is necessary and indeed is quite logical as you gain wisdom after your insight.
Paying 6 mana to Scry 4 cards (best case) is not that appealing but having the option of grabbing the top card makes it much better. It would still function as a bad Impulse for 6 mana but is significantly stronge than the current proposal.

The problem is that reducing the casting cost makes this worse. Maybe lower the activation cost?

Well, it seems I may have been mistaken about the power level of this card. Everybody seems to think that it's too weak. That's kind of a good sign, since it means this card shows promise as a potential common. If I remove the from the activation cost and leave only the  , is it still sufficiently weak to be a common? |
