What is 3cb?

3-Card Blind (3CB) is a very unique game. The rules are as follows

Your deck is composed of 3 cards, all of which start in your hand.
You have no library (technically, the library exists, but starts at 0 cards) and no sideboard (Wishes fetch nothing).
Random effects always go in your opponent's favour.
You can see your opponent's hand, so you can always make the best possible play.
You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card.
You will play each opponent twice, once going first, once going second.
For each win, you score 3.
For each draw, you score 1.
For each lose, you get nothing.
Other than the aforementioned, EVERYTHING IS HANDLED EXACTLY LIKE A REAL GAME OF MAGIC!

To make an entry, PM your deck to wonkey_donkey in the following format:

Subject: 3cb Tournament #43 Entry or 3cb Tournament#43 Revision
Deck Name
Card #1
Card #2
Card #3

Optional Deck discussion, random sucking up, etc.

I'll close entries after 2 weeks. Get your entries in by 28th October and I'll calculate. As I said, the banned list may change within 48 hours of this post going up. After that, it stays as it is. This is not a reason to withold your decks, though - this is not a particuarly serious format! If something's broke, please fix it whilst we can!

Does anything else need banning? I wouldn't have thought it'd be too much of a problem, but if anyone has suggestions feel free to post of PM me, if they don't want their tech to be known Smile . I've also legalised city of traitors - good idea, or bad? I may legalise the depletion counter lands, to balance it out. I can think of a few cards that may or may not make their way onto that list, but I'm letting it run for now.

Results for 3CB#42 will be up tomorrow after I close entries for the 3CB WotW - no need to give the newsers that particular edge, is there?

A little off-topic, but seems you check this topic better then the MTGnews VS TMD topic. How are things with that battle? How many entries have you got for it, and who are the people that submitted them?

Please update the topic.

Has been updated - I've edited in the list of people on the first post of the topic. I'm just discussing the last entry with somebody now - entries will close tomorrow morning.

Is this Mirage or Mirrodin block? MI usually means Mirage; MR, Mirrodin.

At the moment, I think it's a good call with City of Traitors. This opinion may change when I've thought about it more, but it certainly widens the possible archetypes hugely.

EDIT: Oh yeah, why isn't Kamigawa legal here? And shouldn't Ravenous Rats (or at least Mesmeric Fiend) be banned here?

I forgot mesmeric fiend - I meant to ban it originally. Ravenous rats I'm going to let go, as there are more dangerous cads around.

CoK's not legal because we did all the other special formats in sets of 3 blocks. This one probably shouldn't be any exception.

I also meant to ban isochron scepter - sorry for the person who sent in a deck with that in it. It's rather a big threat when City of Traitors exists!

Dammit :-/ That's my plan gone. How about Nezumi Shortfang and Cabal Interrogator?

If Ravenous Rats is safe, so is the Interrogator. There aren't any Moxen bar Chrome Mox (if anyone breaks THIS I'll be impressed), so it's only active turn 3. Too late.

CoK's not legal
...which might answer the Shortfang question.

Do we have enough entries for this tournament or will we be able to send in another entry?

Second decks will (if needed) be allowed as of tomorrow. It's looking unlikely that we'll need them, though.
