So like, we all attend tournies (sort of..) and will probably all test too before we attend that tournament because we actually want a shot at that prize.

Of course, this is heavily dependant on your metagame. But lets say we're talking about your gauntlet for a very big tournament such as a SCG one.

I think the following groups exist:

-The players with their pet decks.
-The players that "just" netdeck a deck from the SCG decks to beat to name a place where decklists can be found.
-The players that take a well established archetype and change it to battle the metagame that they expect.
-The players that make a rogue deck for a tournament.

Explanation;

The players with their pet decks will probably have tested for a long time in their local metagame, and have the optimal deck for their own metagame. For a big tournament as mentioned before however, I doubt if that pet deck is the best choice. Of course, if your pet deck is a well established deck you are probably in group 3. I mean petdecks such as suicide, stasis and FEB.

The netdecking players will probably not win the tournament because they have chosen a deck from a different metagame which might not be good in the other metagame. Lack of time will often prevent them from knowing their deck. Why do I presume they have lack of time? Obviously because they don't test their netdeck. (Note that literally netdecking is not always a bad thing, take Death Wish.dec for example which is rather hard to change because most of the choices are set in stone.)

The other 2 groups are self-explanatory and this thread is mostly for those 2 groups.

The aim of this thread is not to turn into a "your metagame sucks" thread but one where people can discuss their gauntlets for an optimal preparation. If people would not make it one, thanks.

(Final note: I'm not judging people on their choice of playing petdecks or literally netdecking, it can be a good idea sometimes and some people might not even have a choice due to financial and time reasons.)
