Since many vintage multi-color players (including me) are falling to their knees from the CoW and wasteland combo, I wanted to submit a card that could help correct the mana curve.

Name: Mox Shards
Mana Cost: 0
Type: Mono Artifact
Text: Whenever you tap a land for mana, add one mana of any color instead of the color mana that land would normally produce.

Mono artifact?  This looks like a Continuous Artifact, unless the text is supposed to be "The next time you tap a land for mana" or something like that.

Otherwise, I think this is silly.

Generally speaking, the Card Creation forum tries to create cards that are good in any format, not just Vintage. Keeping that in mind, designing to hose a specific card that only sees play in Vintage isn't really a good idea.

On the card itself, this is much too cheap. Color fixing of this magnitude is distinctly green in color, and to not only give it to everyone, but to give it for free is just a bad idea.

Colour Wheel? We don't need no damn Colour Wheel!

Yeah, this is a) broken in T2/block, b) a massive violation of the colour wheel.

Perhaps it could be like a Chromatic Sphere which doesn't need to be sacrificed, eg.

Mox Shards:
1
Artifact
1,T: Add one mana of any colour to your mana pool

This would be a little less offensive IMO.

[card]Mana Cylix[/card]

As for the original card, I'm going to have to agree with everyone. Its a complete rip off Joiner Adept that counts towards affinity and storm. That's just wrong...

I know this won't happen in a tournament, but if my opponent has Chaos Orb in his hand while I'm controlling his turn from a Mindslaver, who flips the card if I force him to play it and activate it?

Doh.

Next idea would be 2:Get 1 mana of any colour, but that's Gemstone Array. So we want a cheap mana fixing artifact... how about this:

Gazargo's other Plow
2 (?)
Artifact
2, T: Remove two target land cards in a graveyard from the game and add 2 mana of any colour to your mana pool.

What about?

Name: Brass Mox
Type:  Artifact
Cost:  0
Text:  Whenever you tap a land for mana you may tap Brass Mox. If you do, change the mana that land produced to any one color.
If Brass Mox is tapped you lose 1 life.

It could turn any land into a City of Brass!

Another possibility would be something like

Mirror Mox
{0}
Artifact

Whenever you tap a land for mana, if Mirror Mox is untapped, you may tap Mirror Mox to add to your mana pool one mana of any color that land could produce.

It's like a Fertile Ground, but it's not a colour fixer. It is useless without a land (so unlike most other Moxen, a hand filled with spells and this is not a keeper). However, it is free and in the presence of at least one other land, it's an accelerator.

Admittedly, this is a very different idea than the one that was originally presented. Another idea, more similar to the original one,  that might work:

Mox Shards
{6}
Artifact

Whenever a land is tapped for mana, it produces one mana of a color it can't produce instead of its normal type and amount.

This card absolutely has to be expensive, since it totally hoses monochrome decks. This idea might not be workable at all, since previous cards with similar effects, such as [card]Naked Singularity[/card] and [card]Reality Twist[/card] both had cumulative upkeep. This card might be a good candidate for fading (which could reduce the mana cost to {4} or {5} if the time until it goes away is small enough.)

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

Mirror Mox is way too good, because it's acceleration.

Brass mox is interesting, but that wording is bad. Just go with:

1, T, pay one life: add one mana of any color to your mana pool.

You could in fact probably just make it cost 1 and one life.

I have been wanting a Brass Mox for years. Since Mirrodin came and went without any Brass, it seems this is the closest I'll ever get.
