You may always play misdirection targeting a cabal therapy or a cranial extraction.

However, if the card is written "target opponent", you have to choose a valid opponent for the one who cast the spell...
If you're playing 1 vs 1, you must choose yourself as an opponent Wink

If one of this spell has "target player" and you misdirect it on your opponent, it's always his choice for the card: he may always choose a card he doesn't play Wink

I just wanted to chime in.

The title of your thread worries me.  Nothing ever targets on resolution.  I just wanted to make that clear.

The targets of Cabal Therapy and Cranial Extraction are chosen when they are played.

Both spells may be targeted with Misdirection, as they have only a single target.  Also, since they do not specify that they must target an opponent, their target can be changed to the player who originally played them.

This normally acts as only a "counterspell" since they are most likely not going to name a card they have in their hand/deck when they resolve.

Yes I realize they aren't going to make themselves discard, but I still want to save my cards and make them reveal their hand to me.

I was just checking because I know how you resolve card text in the order that it is written, but I also know that "name a card" occurs on resolution, and "target" is after that...anyway, I get it now.

Thanks for the help.
