Well, I am not by any means a 'newbie' to magic.  I have been playing for about 7 years with about a 2 year gap in the middle, however, I have very limited mainstreem Magic experience.  I was suggested to go to this forum because of my abundant and absolute affection for T1 (I really dont like the term vintage...) I was curious, however, if someone wouldnt mind making a small explanatory list or refering me to a list of these deck names explanations.  I know 'Stax' (such a cute deck) and a very few of these wild deck names but I dont know what '5/3' is and i get what is ment by 'fish' but i dont know specifically what is ment such as what is the main combo and or theory of the deck.  Ah well, if anyone is curious what crazy deck (I rotate decks in casual play with some friends and I just continually come up with new deck ideas and this is my latest) well, curious what you all think of this deck (remember its just for fun)

Mana Base:
5 Mox
1 Lotus Petal
1 Black Lotus
2 Gaea's Cradle
8 Forest
2 Islands

Mana Accel
2 Sachi, Daughter of Seshiro
4 Orochi Leafcaller
4 Birds of Paradise
4 Crop Rotation

Accel/Sustainment
4 Regrowth
2 Wall of Blossoms
4 Intution
3 Ancestral Knowledge
2 Artifact Mutation

Kill
4 Beacon of Immortality
4 False Cure
2 Crumble
3 Life Burst

Sideboard
3 Swords to Plowshares
2 Crumble
Various hosers (never been quite set in stone)

Well curious what you think, be gentle Smile

And just wanted to say thanks to you guys for this site, learned a lot here already Smile

Moved to Casual.

Stax is named after Smokestack, which is a main component of this lock deck.

5/3 is the power and toughness from Juggernaut, which is the primary win condition of this deck.

Fish used to have merfolk, but now it's just Curiously gay blue (and red) critters.

Stax was also previously spelled $T4KS, sort of a bad acronym for 'The $4K Solution' (as in 'The Four Thousand Dollar Solution' to the Vintage metagame), which was about what it cost at the time.

Also: your deck might want to work in Reverent Silence (possibly SB) somehow. It almost schooled me last tourney....

first, when i saw $T4kS I thought you ment l337 sp33k for staks, but thats cool if it has a double meaning as the four thousand dollar sollution lol.

Also I looked up Reverent Silence... intriguing ... this adds a whole new scope... hmm my love for stupid deck concepts is so fun    this is what just poped into my head:

with the draw power of intuition/AK and also the ability to Intuition for Reverent Silence and regrowth it and also the ability to easily produce two black mana with green mana accel and the mana power 6.... a blue/green control deck just seemed exciting Smile  if i can get 3 of those in my hand, cast false cure then pop all three... Smile and lol, you cant 'counter' that life gain because it is the 'cost' of casting reverent silence... wow

Tell me about this deck that beat you please Smile because a deck list just poped in my head

This was hasty duno if its 60..  but it appears to be very fun Smile Thanks heh

That build is 64 cards, and Regrowth is restricted, just thought I'd let you know. Guess it works out though cuz now your deck is 61 cards.

I played against one once in a local tourney, but I beat it.

It played also exactly like Tog, except it had white instead of green. It almost maindecked Life Burst (this was Mirrodin legal, I believe, just before Beacon). It mainly just used them to stay alive, but it had a False Cure in the sideboard to Wish for if you were in range. The two games I played against him he Life Bursted himself for four, eight, and twelve, but he never had the mana/cards to hit me with one. I liked the idea of just Wish for False Cure, though.

Also, you say Ancestral Knowledge. Do you mean Accumulated Knowledge, or are you playing with the Mirage card?

I played against one last Sunday. I didn't do too hot myself, but I managed to beat the crap out of him. It's in interesting idea, though, and it did kind of catch me by surprise (matter of fact, he'd even have won a game if I didn't happen to have Platinum Angel on the table).

I think the deck needs immortality in it.  I am think either Immortality, or False Immortality.
Just a thought.
