Wow.  I have never even taken a logic course and I can totally see that guy's stupidity.  My head hurts after reading some of the things he said  Sad

Nice job to hi-val and the others for actually having the patience to pick apart his horrible statements ^_^

Actually, Klep messed up:

Thus, as long as each transition from statement to statement is valid, the entire argument is valid.

This is incorrect. You forgot to add that the first statement needs to be valid and non-trivial, and the transitions need to be non-trivial.

edit: apparently, Klep corrected himself. That thread is enormous, I can hardly follow anything... Razz

HAH! An objectivist libertarian who isn't old enough to vote... like I don't see a dozen of THOSE every day at work. Little kid attitude with immature philosophies, but at least he can write moderately well. He's still stuck in the "show off" stage of writing development; I suspect a professor will disabuse him of that notion soon enough.

Actually, he also really needs to take some philosophy classes beyond the basic, because he's got some fundamentally flawed ideas on various topics.

I've always wondered what a young, English-speaking Proust would sound like if he was so heartsick with unrequited love for a young Ayn Rand that he turned to fantasy card games to pass the long, cold hours.  Now I know!

Oh man, this guy really hasn't done his research. Any Objectivist would know that libertarians are evil because they have the slightest tolerance for the unconverted, and are allowed to take positions separate from Rand's!

If you objectively examine the B/R lists, they are clearly Marxist. By enacting an institution that prevents individuals from using cards, it stifles competition.

That was amazing! I didn't think I was actually going to read through it, but then it was just too awesome. Hurray for college students marauding the internet putting adolescents in their place. Hopefully in two years he'll do the same thing to another kid.

I love the severe pwnage that the kid is receiving, but it's almost sad to see him get pummeled so badly.  I mean, I remember being in High School and my first few experiences with philosophy.  I'd like to think I didn't sound like that, but please.  We all know I probably did.

That said, the thread REALLY starts to get good right around "that's not a standard argument.  That's a PROOF!  HAHAHA!  GOTCHA!"
