At TMD OPEN 4, I was purchasing some power cards from a friend, when Jeff Anand showed concern over the authenticity of a Black Lotus.  He held it up to a very bright light(artwork facing the light) and you could read the text all the way through the card.  He informed me that if you could see through the card like this...it was definitely fake.

I go home and try some of my power cards on my little lamp.  They cannot be read as you look through them.

Fast forward to the present.  I am again in the position to buy a power card, and this one as well is transparent when held to the light.  I let the person know that I think his card is a fake.  He then grabs a pile of random rares, from various sets, new and old, and holds them up to the light.  Amazingly, you can see through these as well.

I go home and retry some of my power cards with a more powerful bulb.  Now I can make out writing through them, though some are harder than others.

So I ask you...have any of you heard anything about this?  Try holding your power cards up to a light.  Do you get the same result?  Are cards that can be seen through up to the light real or fake?  Are some transparent and others not, but both real, just depending on the print run?

What do you think?

RIP Mogg Fanatic...at least you are still better than Fire Bowman!!!

I was once asked on MWS, what the highest I ever finished at a TMD Open was.  I replied, "I've never played in a Waterbury.  I was then called "A TOTAL NOOB!"

I tried out my Ancestral, Sapphire, Lotus, Ruby, and beta Sol Ring and was able to read through each one.  Some were easier to read than others (the text was blurrier in some cases), but I was able to decipher the text in each case.  I also tried it for a Force of Will and foreign Windfall and got the same result.  It doesn't work too well for foils though. Wink

I've never heard of this before.

I've heard this before. I thought I read it was a proof that they where real when you could see through them.

No room in the house exceeds a length of twenty-five feet, let alone fifty feet, let alone fifty-six and a half feet, and yet Chad and Daisy's voices are echoing, each call responding with an entirely separate answer. In the living room, Navidson discovers the echoes emanating from a dark, doorless hallway which has appeared out of nowhere in the west wall.

Edit:  I can't host these anymore.  If someone else wants to host them I can give them the pics and let them host, and fill the image urls back in.
