Militant Soothsayer
{3}{W}
Creature -- Wizard
1/3

Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage to a player, you may  search your library for a card with the same mana cost as that creature, then shuffle your library and put that card on top of it. (Mana cost includes color.)

***

Yes, this probably allows you to search for one card each turn, essentially setting up your draw for the following turn. On the other hand, it requires a very specialized deck to be a versatile search function and it is self-limiting. You can only stack one card, since each activation has to shuffle the deck before putting the card on top.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

Current Wording:

Militant Soothsayer
{3}{W}
Creature – Cleric Soldier
1/3

Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage to a player, you may  search your library for a card that shares a color with that creature and with the same converted mana cost as that creature, reveal it, then shuffle your library and put that card on top of it.

I love what you've been doing to white recently, just a few little nitpicks.

I don't know if I like the creaure type Wizard for white. Currently, there are 19 white wizards, but of them, 2 are also blue, 9 are part of a cycle of wizards, and one has a blue activation (not counting those already in cycles), leaving only 7 legitimate white wizards. Out of the seven, 4 have the Race Class structure, giving them some additional flavor as to why they're Wizards. I'm not saying it can't be done (in fact, 5 of the seven are from the last three blocks), I just don't really like it. Maybe it's just a personal thing.

I also think either the power can go up one or the mana cost down one, probably the power. One very basic comparison that comes to mind is Auriok Salvagers, which is a white creature with a great utility ability, doesn't need to attack to be useful, but needs its deck built around it. It also costs 3W, but has a fairly beefy 2/4 body. Note also that they have a fairly "Wizard-esque" ability, yet are Soldiers.

Finally, as with all specific search, this needs to reveal.

I would not mind making this a cleric at all. I happened to have Kitsune Mystic sitting in front of me when I templated this and it seemed appropriate. On the other hand, I would also like giving it additional flavour by giving it race-class structure. In any case, soldier wouldn't be appropriate for this unless the name were to change.

Instead of changing the creature's power, I've also been thinking of increasing the versatility of the search function a little bit. It occurs to me that searching for a card with the same mana cost is very restrictive. I could increase the utility a little by having this search for a card that shares a colour and the converted mana cost with the creature. It not only means that a creature with mana cost {2}{W} can search for a spell with mana cost {1}{W}{W}, it also encourages multi-colour building more. [card]Goblin Legionnaire[/card], for example, could search for Flame Burst, but also for Disenchant. The downside to this change, of course, is that artifact creatures can't yield a search/artifacts of any sort can't be searched for.

Nice. I'm not sure if I like searching for a card with the same mana cost or a card that shares a colour and the converted mana cost better...

I think this should be a Cleric though (like Militant Monk). And I don't see why it couldn't/shouldn't be a Cleric Soldier, like Grassland Crusader and Noble Templar.

I have changed the creature type(s) and I have altered the ability so that it searches for a card that shares a color, with the same converted mana cost. I like the somewhat improved versatility of that wording of the ability.

This is probably finished, but since I'm going to request its closure in a couple of hours, I figured it wouldn't be fair to have it spend those last few moments of free-commentary time hiding on the second page.
