Firstly I'd have to say that the lack of participation was a bit disappointing. There have been 30+ people playing in tournaments both this end and at theirs, but still incomplete teams. Hmm. If there's a next one (feedback needed, I think, before we decide if it's a worthwhile exercise), I'd hope to raise a full team, the standard of which doesn't matter!

I had to turn surprisingly few people away for duplicating cards, actually. They took advantage of the mana source-ness of strip mine, whilst we didn't touch the thing with a 10-foot pole. A shame, considering their comparative reliance on mishra's factory in many matches. Perhaps our unfamiliarity with lotus is to blame? Our reliance on lotus is shown by the very strong performance of the tabernacle based deck - one I considered but rejected on the grounds that they were likely to play slightly less lotus than us.

In general, though, our decks were fairly ah... extreme, in that they tended to be at one end or other of the success scale. They held up by having a lot of simply solid decks. We had a fair few pieces of tech that didn't come often with enough regularity - for example, thorme's espousal of dodecapod let him draw a few games that he had no right to, but unfortunately most decks could get round both the inability to force a discard and the glowrider.

Well, that's it for this time. If you could check your matches, would be good - especially if momentous balls-ups have been made, as it would quite possibly change the result!

Feedback appreciated.

I agree that TMDs interest in 3CB and the Casual forum in general has been slipping over the course of the past few months. I wonder what could be the reasoning for this?

Sorry 'bout the lackluster performance fellas.  I figured I'd play a fun deck that is certainly only appropriate for a fully-powered event.  I think my deck would have been much better without the "no cards which can force a discard of 2 or more" rule!

Some of my changes:

Against Lone_Warrior, I'm 6-0 - I pitch the Pulse to the Rats, drop the Scavenger, and Pulse him to death with the recurring engine.

Against fadeblue, I'm 0-6 - even if I go first; he can play Misguided Rage at me to avoid manaburn.

Against r_x_, I'm 1-4 - if I go first, surely he has to Pox, drawing the game?

This gives me 3 more points - we're on the way to a glorious victory, of course; this is just the beginning... Smile

Me (TMD 10) vs Goblinboy (MTG 1): Should be 1-4 to MTG - On the draw, I just lose to turn 1 Eater, on the play, if I go Turn 1 3Sphere, he strips my Workshop, drawing the game. Turn 1 Steel Golem lets him combo and win the race easily.

You're right about the first - not sure what I was thinking on that one. I think you're wrong about the others though; if you play first against fadeblue, you drop your scavenger. If he reciprocates, you can simply recur the lotus and leave it on the table. If he ever tries to rage, you can just sac the lotus and then will win the race with your recursion from the pulse. Hence he rages you on turn 1. As for the third, he doesn't have to pox - he can play the glowrider to stop you ever replaying the lotus. Eventually the scavenger dies.

@Nazdakka - correct.

Changes to be made later today - must be off now.

Fair enough - the last two make no difference to my score if they're both wrong, anyway. I keep thinking Glowrider works like Chalice rather than Sphere of Resistance for some reason.
