I agree. There was just enough room in the form for the card text.

How about
"Until your next main phase, anytime a player would draw a card, that player gains 3 life instead."
That way, it could still cost 2, be playable without having to run white creatures, and would shut down all drawing until your next main phase. You sacrifice your next draw step and your card drawing to stop their draw step and thier card drawing. That way, it isn't unbalanced, giving you a draw step and taking theirs away (meaning you can scepter it). Also, you would have to cast it during your 2nd main for it to not completely suck, which takes away any synergy with drain. It also stops those combo-kills with deep analysis, ancestral, and stroke.

That's still no good because I can go Benalish Hero, Scepter imprintg this and win the game if you didnt find a way to remove either of them in the two turns you're given.

Could you use that same wording and suppose that it's a 2-casting-cost sorcery? That solves the Scepter problem nicely.

How do you win the game when your opponent nets 2 life every turn? Touche'. Still, this seals the game totally if you can do 4 damage/turn. Or combine with, like, Forsaken Wastes or the red Forsake Wastes. Ephraim: No, because that would only stop combo decks that try to win on your turn, which are few and far between. Moreover, you couldn't then cast it in response to a draw spell, which makes the card utterly useless.

If you use the wording "Until your next main phase..." and you cast it during your second main phase, it keeps your opponent from winning until your next turn.

But then they can just wait a turn. You have no guarantee of actually interfering with anything. I think it needs to stay an instant.

I didn't see this thread until now, but I submitted a card that read something like:
As an additional casting cost you may discard 2 cards from you hand. Until end of turn your life total cannot go below one and you cant be decked. At end of turn if you have fewer that 1 card in your library, you may put 10 random cards from your graveyard on top of your library, then shuffle your library.
Somehow I managed to fit all that text. I wanted a FOW type card that was only good against turn one or two combo decks. I've never tried to design a card, so this could be total shit. Also, I'm not trying to hijack your current discussion, but i didnt want to start another topic.

Well, that's basically the Gift of Life card, except takes up more space.

yeah I noticed that comparison, except when i was creating this I wanted it tailored more for type one, so thats why it prevents decking and can be played if your opponent goes first and you dont have FOW. (hence the dicard alternate cost)

Machinus: "Until your next main phase, anytime a player would draw a card, that player gains 3 life instead." Matt: Until the end of the turn, if a player would draw a card, instead remove the top card of that player's library from the game and they gain 3 life. You may tap an untapped white creature you control rather than pay Swords to Brainshares' mana cost. This kinda sounds like an instant version of Words of Worship, but with a drawback. Words of Worship 2{W} Enchantment (1): The next time you would draw a card this turn, you gain 5 life instead. Getting back to the Swords ability, I'd like to see something like this for White. Card Name: Orim's Judgment Cost: {W} Type: Instant Text: Remove target artifact from the game, gain life equal to its casting cost. It's kinda like Altars Light combined with Swords. Tell me what you guys think. Denz

Heh, you guys are really good with coming up with cards that already exist. "Orim's Judgement" has been around since Legends:
[card]Divine Offering[/card]
Also, the card is hugely different from Words of Worship because it affects the opponent.

How about this? Card Name: Orim's Judgment Cost: (X) {W} Type: Instant Text: Pay X Life: Remove X artifacts from the game. Yeah, black usually has you pay life, but there are a few white cards out there that do. Order of the Sacred Torch, and Etherial Champion to name a few. I think mass artifact removal would be awesome for white. And I searched for any card that could possibly be similar to this and I didn't find anything. It's kinda like Splinter, but it takes out as many artifacts as you need it to. Denz
