Endless Sentinels - 5
Artifact Creature - Golem
Whenever ~this~ blocks put a warp counter on it.
Whenever an opponent attacks put a 0/1 artifact creature token into play for each warp counter on ~this~; sacrifice all tokens created in this way at the end of combat.
1/5

Obviously not a much of a Type 1 card but not all the cards I create are.

This reminds me of Kjeldoran Home Guard.

that's strong in limited.  Having infinite chump blockers is hot.  It's not a threat to other formats tho.

This is a little too strong, but the idea is sound. What about this:

Sentinels
{5}
Artifact Creature -- Golem
1/1
Sunburst
Remove a +1/+1 counter from ~this~: put a 1/1 Myr artifact creature token into play for each +1/+1 counter on ~this~. At end of turn, sacrifice these tokens.

So the first time, you get four tokens. Then three, two, and so on. They're not "endless" anymore but that was the problem, really. Your version really wasn't that interesting, because it basically was just an artifact Moat - the opponent would only attack with flyers, and youd get tokens and then lose them to no effect. There's a lot more interesting things you can do with 1/1 tokens, especially fi they last until end of turn and not end of combat. Plus you can keep charging my version up.

I have one small problem with your propossal Matt -- it just bothers me that the removal of the Golem's last +1/+1 counter doesn't do anything. That's why I used the wording I did for Lamp of Visions. I wanted the last counter to do something as well. Other than that, I like the way yours operates mechanically. It's definitely an improvement over the original.

The name needs a little bit of work -- there's already a card called "Sentinel" and I don't think it goes all that well with the Myr anyhow. Maybe it could be called "Myr Battle Platform" instead and change the creature type to "Myr." Furthermore, this is an ideal card for the new "Defender" ability.

If this can't attack then it's badly overcosted...yet the extra cost makes sunburst interesting.

I suppose it can attack then. I figured Defender would be interesting, but it certainly isn't necessary. The other thing I was considering was whether or not we could template it somehow so that it costs {4}, but gets an additional +1/+1 counter -- so four colours of mana would give it five +1/+1 counters.

The thing about the Sentinel in my version is that it isn't so strong to begin with, how about this.

Endless Sentinels - 5
Artifact Creature - Golem
Whenever an opponent attacks you may pay X, if you do put that many 0/1 artifact creature tokens into play until end of turn.
1/1

This version is entirely dependent upon your untapped land at the time and isn't much stronger than a Circle of Protection.

This version is very similar to white's ability to tap creatures before combat, as well as your mention of CoP's. One time tapping (Master Decoy) usually comes relatively cheap, but massive tapping (Crowd Favorites) is expensive. To Fog a creature for one colorless is a bit strong, especially if you combine it with the fact that it gives you sacrifice fodder for things like Goblin Bombardment, Arcbound Ravager, and the like. You say it isn't much better than a CoP, but I'd say it's better than Story Circle, which not only costs W per activation instead of colorless, but is also very white.

Oh, I just realized that this is a 1/1 Artifact Creature for 5, so any aggro deck worth anything should have either killed you already or be able to remove this with ease, so I guess it isn't so bad. While I stand by my above criticism, this guy is fragile enough where it shouldn't be a problem.

EDIT: I suppose it could still be a problem in Limited.
