Fearsome Mantis  Creature -- Insect 1/1 Fearsome Mantis can't be blocked by creatures with flying. Once, its only natural predators were birds. Now, the birds know to leave it alone.*** This card serves two purposes. One, I'm on an insect kick, with Rapacious Antlion. Two, I realize that I have only ever created one green card. (Mangrove Dryad) Okay, it isn't a very ambitious card, but every colour needs some 1/1 cheapies, right? |

Nothing really about the card, but I was just thinking that maybe all these insects of late could be part of the theme of Atzec. I mean, it is pretty buggy in Central America, and there have been a lot of Insects as of late. Maybe they could become a major tribe. You've already got the Antlion, which would want a bunch of insects in the same set. Plus, insects can be poison-ish.
Also, the name of this thread is "Toxic Wasps." You might want to change that.

It's been a while since anybody's mentioned the Aztec set. Anyhow, something that had occured to me regarding the Aztec set was that although we'd set up some loose, flavour guidelines, some of the specifics had been left untouched. I think I'm going to rekindle the discussion in the "Sets in Progress" subforum. |

I don't want my 1/1 cheapie to muscle in too much on territory occupied by other 1-cc cheapies -- namely, Norwood Ranger. In any case, 1/2 creatures for one mana are not particularly common and only three of eight that exist have abilities (two if you don't count Rime Dryad's SNOW-COVERED FORESTWALK, which is amazingly worse than this creature's ability.)
