Seismic Titan
{2}{R}{R}
Creature -- Giant
4/3

When Seismic Titan comes into play, each player sacrifices a land.

I wanted to create a creature that had each player sacrifice a land when it came into play. The effect didn't seem appropriate for a small creature, so I attached it to a bigger creature. My question then is whether or not this is even a little bit useful as a 4-cc spell? I'm not really sure whether the ability counts as a penalty or as a bonus. If it's a penalty, this creature is right on the mana curve with other 4/3 red creatures for 4 mana. If it's a bonus, then this is somewhat undercosted. Whether the ability is particularly good or not, I like this creature. It has decent numbers for limited.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

Well, I *think* the ability is more likely to be a bonus than a drawback. The deck which came to mind as soon as I saw this was Ponza, and for that deck getting landkill and beatdown in one 4-mana package is excellent. It is card disadvantage though, and so I don't think this card is much good outside of an LD deck. I'd let this one through with a few yellow warning signs for the playtesters.

The one thing I'm not sure on is the name. Titan speaks to me of a giant fattie (6/6+) as opposed to a 4/3, and I'm not sure 'Seismic' makes much sense as a descriptor. How about 'Earthshaker Ogre', 'Hammerfoot Giant' or something along those lines?

As far as the "Titan" part of the name goes, consider...
[card]Gorilla Titan[/card] (it can be bigger than 4/4)
[card]Kavu Titan[/card]
[card]Marble Titan[/card]
[card]Opal Titan[/card]

I think there's plenty of precedent for smallish Titans. As far as I know, any creature with the "Giant" creature type is elligible to be called a Titan and Giants are traditionally 3- or 4-power creatures. I'll see if I can come up with something besides Seismic. "Earthshaker" sounds pretty bland to me and "Hammerfoot" makes me think too much of "hammertoe"

This is well-costed, fair and has an interesting ability. As far as I'm concerned this card is good to go!
