I can't actuallly see anything wrong with it as is. At 8 mana, it really isn't that bad (compare to Akroma, Spirit of the Night, Verdant Force, Thorn Elemental etc.), and 'cheating' it out at 4 mana requires something else, and it's not that big anyway, so I think it's fine. Also, going from 4 to 8 just 'feels' about right.
