Just got off the phone with Carl.
Carl is 6-0 with SSB, JP is out, Asok is X-1 with Meandeath
Rich Shay is currently X-1 and playing against the Roscoe
Kowal and Brassy scrubbed out, and did Team Goat
Jeff Tussi is out
Eli Kassis and Seth Levy are X-2
Seems it's currently in Round 6. 140 players in attendance.

The standings after round 8 are like:
2 people at 19 points 3 people at 18 points 3 people at 17 points 3 people at 16 points 17 people at 15 points
Because of the maaaaaaaad 15 pointers, everyone with less than 17 points (plus whoever was at 17 and got paired down) will need to play.

First off, this just in: Master Tap made T16 with Burninator, although he failed to beat Carl despite the presence of a full set of 4 Lava Dart in his maindeck.
T16 Feature Match: Travis LaPlante (The Tinker Deck) vs. Ashok Chitturi (Fish)
The Aarons will eventually get this up online, but for now, here's a typed report:
Travis won the roll and started with Shivan Reef, Pearl, Emerald, and Welder, which Ashok Forced pitching Standstill. Ashok then Waste'd the Reef. Travis played a Gemstone Mine and Sol Ring into Thirst for Knowledge, pitching Jet. Ashok went Island, Aether Vial on his turn. Travis played out a Workshop and then a Su-Chi on his turn, which resolved. Ashok brought the Vial up to 2 and then fetched out an Island to cast Standstill. Travis attacked Ashok to 14 and then broke Standstill with Grim Monolith and then Transmute on said Monolith to fetch Memnarch. Memnarch stole the Vial. Ashok played another Island on his turn and cast Dan-Dan (Travis: "Dan-Dan is the shit!")
Travis attacked with the Memnarch and passed. Ashok played a Tundra and then cast Meddling Mage on Thirst for Knowledge. Travis turned the Dan-Dan into an artifact on Carl's turn and then stole it on his turn (which killed it, since he didn't have any Islands). He attacked Ashok, and since Ashok didn't draw anything on his next draw, he scooped.
Ashok started game two with a Flooded Strand and a Sapphire, holding back since he was holding double Annul. Travis only played a Gemstone and an Emerald on his turn. Ashok followed up with a Strand for Tundra, then cast a Mage on REB. Travis played out Academy and a Lotus, and then after thinking for a long time, went for Gilded Lotus, which was Forced (pitching a useless Dan-Dan). Ashok attacked Travis to 18 and then played out an Aether Vial. Travis went for Crucible, which was Annul'ed. Ashok upped the Vial and went in for another 2. Travis played Mana Vault and used it to resolve a Thirst, discarding Titan and burning for a point. Ashok did another 2 but had no other plays. Travis played a Grim Monolith to hardcast Memnarch, which Ashok Annul'ed. His Transmute on Grim Monolith did go through, and Travis fetched a Triskelion. Ashok fetched out another Tundra, upped the Vial to 3, played a Factory, and then dropped Chalice X=1.
Travis killed the Meddling Mage and did a point to Ashok with the Trisk before dumping an assload on mana into his pool to cast Will. Off of Will he cast Transmute (sacrificing Triskelion to get memnarch), Thirst for Knowledge (discarding Workshop and Welder), Gilded Lotus, and finally Sundering Titan. Ashok only played a Tundra on his turn. Travis smashed in, and Ashok tried to block with the Factory and a Vial'ed out Old Man, but Travis had more than enough mana to be able to steal both of them before blockers, prompting the concession.
Travis now goes on to play the winner of the Anson Phetterplace/Brian Rozzero match.
Also, Rich Shay won his match, but can't seem to figure out how he is going to get home in time for Easter.

Zheng won Waterbury with Fish
Shay lost in the T8 to 'the luckiest TPS player ever'
Kowal came in 33rd
Brassy scrubbed out like it was his job.
Some Fish in the T16, TPS, SSB. That's all I know for now.

Zheng wins with blue white fish, Congrats, a smart player, taking the obvious best deck choice to the best tourney of the year and winning with it, i'm so glad to see this win waterbury, after I housed my way through the ruby tourney last week with it.

That is not what MeanDeck playtesting and the germans' playtesting have shown so far. Your comment is pretty damn useless anyways, considering you haven't seen decklists and stuff. Flaming wil get you nowhere. EDIT : That was obviously written by Toad

I was quite depressed when I found I had to cover for somebody at work and wasn't able to make it to this waterbury. Oh, well, theres always a next time. I was going to play SSB anyway Any word on when we'll see decklists and the videos? That's going to be sweet. And Memnarch is The Man .

So I guess it is true that zheng won waterbury last april also, along with this one this year. I left when he was playing in his top 8 match and he was getting owned pretty bad by oath salvagers, with the other person he was facing getting a first turn win. He must have made a comeback.

Not sure if Ray will do it tomorrow, I talked to him at like 11pm on Sunday and said that he was completely dead. In the second chance tourney it was OathSalvagers and Fish in the finals, I think Fish won but can't remember because I was in a poker tourney and wasn't paying too much attention. Kowal and Outlaw made the semis.

Master Tap is my hero. He did a marvelous job with a zero-proxy deck that was way less powerful than his competition. I think his success shows that with enough testing and play skill, you can make even the most unlikely deck work.
"At the end of your turn...", as he dumps 3 bolts onto the table, "light you up!"

Oh yeah, since I forgot to mention it, Shay was playing SSB instead of CS for this tourney. Actually, Josh, I was really playing an updated version of Reflection Drain Belcher that Hyperion and Mike Lydon have been testing since 1994. The fact that it happened to be very similar to Brassman's deck is just a coincidence. Also, on another note, Master Tap is also my hero. He took almost-unpowered Sligh to the Top 16 of Waterbury. Infinite Props.

Yeah I made semis with Top, my own personal build of course. I lost to some really tinker - darksteel draws from Oath, he never even activated an oath! The U/R Fish player was TERRIBLE, everyone had noticed this.
